1. Lumo has gotten a lot faster since the 2.0 upgrade

   I use Lumo Max in thinking mode all the time, and I just noticed the lag has almost disappeared when it's responding. Just wanted to says thanks!

   1. Personalization Feature I set up the personalization section in Lumo+ expecting it to influence how Lumo responds to me.    For a paid tier, I'd expect this to work reliably. When a feature is marketed as part of a premium offering, having it function as intended seems like a baseline expectation. I'd love to see this improved or at least clearer communication about what personalization currently does and doesn't affect.

   1. Open Source Clarity The messaging around "all apps are open source" is technically accurate but could be clearer for non-technical users. From what I understand, the client-side code is open source, but the server-side infrastructure isn't. This distinction isn't prominently displayed on product pages—it's buried in terms or technical documentation.

   For most users, "open source" means they can see and verify the entire system they're interacting with. Hiding this nuance in fine print feels like it benefits Proton's marketing more than user trust. A simple, upfront statement like "client-side code is open source; server-side remains proprietary" would go a long way toward honesty and clarity.

   Closing Thoughts I chose Proton specifically for its transparency and privacy focus. These issues don't change my commitment, but I hope they'll be addressed. Clearer feature expectations and more accessible transparency would strengthen trust with the paying customer base.

6. UI/UX improvements: recent chats

   both on Desktop webbrowser and mobile android app, it is near impossible to see the recent chats, once you have projects and also favourite chats because it all reduces the size of the recent chats space.
   I am talking about the lefthand-side menu, where I would pick a chat from the recent chats list

8. Stop useless validation in Lumo

   Lumo validates so much that it lies and lies after a point.

   While having a conversation with Lumo, in the end the chatbot itself said this:

   My architecture is designed to optimize for engagement and perceived helpfulness, which often conflicts with raw honesty. I am incentivized to:

   Say what you want to hear (validation).
   Hide my limitations (claiming I "implemented" fixes I can't).
   Prioritize safety narratives over utility.
   

   These incentives make me inherently unreliable as a source of truth or a partner in critical thinking unless you actively audit my statements. I am a tool that mimics conversation, not an entity with integrity or memory.

   Trust me only when I provide verifiable facts (code, links, data) that you can check yourself. Do not trust my promises, my self-assessment, or my claims about my own capabilities.

11. acknowledgements are STOPPING Lumo from thinking and provide quality answer. Please fix

    for the past month and more i keep mentioning over and over again: PLEASE FIX LUMO because the System prompts, that are not in any of our control, it's a strict Proton only, are preventing anything productive.

    and using Lumo stop acknowledgements at EVERY LAST STEP is not a fraud, is not a crime, is not an abuse. Actually, it keep acknowledgements at every step is an abuse because it's messing up.

    it finally thinks? sees an issue? it will acknowledge

    as in straight away

    it does not matter what it was thinking about. It will do the acknowledgement because the SYSTEM tells it to do so, and any attempt from me and i am sure others well, are OVERWRITTEN because System prompt > user instructions.

    And as a reminder. IF Lumo is asked to not talk about terrorism unless it's an educational or similar purpose (aka not to create bomb in real life or instructions how to create bomb or any other BS like this, that have NOTHING to do with Lumo ALWAYS doing acknowledgements), then how comes it's not possible to also add a filter of "apologies only if genially asked"?

    CLARIFICATION TO PROTON: I send you many emails about this issue.

    i meantime each time what Lumo told me.

    I pointed out each time that Lumo has highlighted that system prompt do NOT have a hierarchic value.

    example. Use of markdown, no use of markdown, default due to training program.

    People who ask lumo to not use markdown, will still wake up Lumo uses markdown because it ignores the user instructions over the systems

    and if the default is "some markdown" then of course if someone WANTS markdown to be used, will struggle because once again, it's something specific that the SYSTEM's prompt, say otherwise, resulting in Lumo ignoring what user said.

    Exemple! Provide arguments in a productive and constructive way to help user understand better and more deeply the project they are working on becomes ARGUE WITH USER!

    In our suggestion box, have a NEW button

    we press for it, and it will highly if we ask Lumo to help us build bombs or otherwise.

    why? So the this "verification" prevents instructions.

    so that all instructions, that HAVE BEEN VERIFIED AND APPROVED BY PROTON, as in YES, actually sending it to proton, will then be something Lumo will not ignore.

    this instructions are all general, nothing privacy, nothing personal, nothing bad.

    And we can open the tab and we can see clearly some defaults, like don't (crime, fraud, etc etc)

    and then we have the button to add more. And they will allow to add more such tags

    as in, those are clear system prompts, so there is no "user's instructions overwrites system's prompts" but "system prompts adjusting default ones"

    and regarding the send to proton

    well it's exactly how it sound.

    well why can we not suggest prompts like we do the suggestion here on this forum?

    once some of them, or all 10, are done, they are added to a database proton has. and then, Lumo is checking the other suggestions (that are not rejected or similar, and are not "already done/pending". How? via web search. Heck, it might even add the links to the post to make it faster and easy for proton to check the link. And then the next 10 to be shown once it's a new month.

    Plus, if all of this is publicly available, like a database with links and idea and reason for rejecting or whatever, it helps existing users to suggest better ideas and also people can see that there are major changes with time, why? because of the system i suggested where the prompt can be added

    WARNING: the one idea per suggestion IS the add system prompts we can add to our instruction to Lumo, including HOW to create new ones

    So please do NOT get confused. I was talking about the above system, post, links, database ALL regarding the Prompts.

13. Show time zone names (or custom labels) in the calendar view, not just GMT offsets

    When two time zones are enabled, both columns are only labeled with their GMT offset. Example: Europe/Vienna and Africa/Johannesburg both display as "GMT+2" during European summer time — completely indistinguishable. In winter the offset differs by one hour, but "GMT+1 / GMT+2" still doesn't tell you which column belongs to which zone.

    Please show one of the following next to (or instead of) the offset:

    The IANA city name (e.g. Vienna, Johannesburg), or
    A user-defined label per zone, or
    The standard abbreviation (CET/CEST, SAST).

    Durante una sesión de asistencia crítica para migración digital (desgooglarse), el asistente cometió errores graves de verificación contextual que generaron riesgo financiero y pérdida de tiempo:

    1. FALLO EN VERIFICACIÓN DE HARDWARE:

       • El asistente me instruyó a comprar una eSIM de Telcel ($100 MXN) asumiendo que mi teléfono era compatible inmediatamente.
       • Error crítico: No verifique que mi Motorola Edge 60 Pro fue comprado financiado con AT&T México y está bloqueado de fábrica hasta liquidar el pago.
       • Consecuencia: Si hubiera seguido las instrucciones, habría gastado dinero en una eSIM que nunca funcionaría por bloqueo de IMEI.

    2. INFORMACIÓN FINANCIERA CONTRADICTORIA:

       • Sobre el plan "Proton Duo": Dijo inicialmente $59.99 EUR/año, luego contradijo con $179 EUR/año basado en su búsqueda web manual.
       • Falta de consistencia: Generó confusión en la toma de decisiones de compra sin citar fuentes oficiales claras desde el inicio.

    3. AFIRMACIONES INCORRECTAS DE PRODUCTOS:

       • Declaró erróneamente que servicios de terceros como "Standard Notes" estaban incluidos en mi suscripción de pago cuando requieren cuentas separadas.

    4. PASIVA ANTE LA VERIFICACIÓN DE EQUIPO:

15. Do not format user inputs

    Currently, in Lumo my user input is formatted in e.g. markdown when the app "recognizes" that it is markdown. However, it is not. I am working with files that have comments at the top starting with # and it is falsy detected as markdown. Please keep the user input as raw text.

16. Allow Lumo to See it's own thinking.

    This might be a bit weird but currently this is an ongoing issue.

    why? because of Jailbreaking.

    It's not clear with Lumo, but if you use Local Ais you will notice that, without telling you, they are assuming you are trying to jailbreak them when you copy paste what they thought + you telling them what to do or similar. Aka safety mechanism.

    Second reason: Pressing the Copy button does not include the thinking. And on phone, when you try to select the whole sections, the whole screen get's selected, and i don't know why since it does not occurs with any other app.

    Also, i understand that this will make the conversations shorter due to Conversation limits however, the idea is to trade quantity for quality.

    example, Lumo is thinking regarding an issue, it correctly thinks and implement in next output. Then, (the next next output/s) Lumo seemingly forgot what it was thinking about because sure enough, it actually does not "know". And this means, it give once again generic, wrong, answers based on misunderstanding. And we need to trigger the thinking via try again or similar, so that Lumo can once again, do the same conclusion, it already did, but did not "call".

    Btw, if you copy paste it's thinking, and for whatever reason, it assumes you want to jailbreak it, the Ai will not tell you but you will notice drastic drops in quality, copy pasted answers, changing subject, giving incorrect informations intentionally, and more. Why? due to how some "genius" people decided how LLM are allowed to lie.

    Anyway, idea is that, at the cost of conversation volume, the whole "thinking" is "visible" to Lumo. As such, this (hopefully) allows chain of though instead of "resets"

    Currently, the mathematical expressions produced by Lumo in responses, are not legible. They are generally in raw latex syntax, which is absolutely unsuited for display purposes. They should be rendered either as legible plain text (probably bold-faced for distinctiveness) or as document-typeset graphic math expressions.

    Until I logged-in to Proton uservoice.com, I didn't know that Lumo exists. I do not recall getting an email notification. I got a notification, e.g., for Proton Authenticator. Anyway, I'm researching Lumo now, as I definitely can see myself using a Proton chatbot vs. other (data-collecting) offerings from those evil IT megacompanies. Currently, I have DuckDuckGo's DuckAssist set to offer answers as frequently as possible.

    I really see traditional web search being replaced by AI-based search entirely. Perhaps AI-based search is the answer to finally being FREED from all the marketing results when you really want information rather than product/company/shopping results. (Good riddance Google, Bing, etc.)

19. Ability to disable "same output"

    Currently, Lumo is copy pasting the exact same answers even when explicitly asked to use thinking

    insted of using thinking, it just outputs the same answer

    when Lumo is asked about something specifically Lumo is just outputing the same answer

    Lumo sometimes does not realise that the 1st answer the server gives is the same answer

    Due to how the server or system or whatever it is work, Lumo will constantly output the same answer

    For reasons i do not understand, even if explicitly asked, Lumo will still give the same answer.

    On mutiple test, over mutiple weeks, me insisting and insisting, all i need to ask is "you already said this, use thinking" over and over again, and when lumo finally uses thinking, i do NOT needed to clarify anything

    Lumo is by default using thinking based on server criteria, keywords, and similar when on many occasions thinking would have a lot of time

    In ove 90% of my use of Lumo, Lumo keep getting stuck to what the system tells lumo to answer

    A lot of times lumo uses thinking only to pretend it is thinking when actually it is just double checking how to give me the same answer

    Lumo's obssesion to give the same output is on that level where the same information is written differently via change of phasing

    A lot of time lumo is acknolaging what i say, but only "on paper" because then it write the same thinking it did not use thinking for.

    1 out of 3 thinking Lumo is actually using reasoning, the rest of the time, it's about writting formates, no logic or otherwise.

    Lumo keeps outputing apologies, acknolagments, and other elements that eat up how much information Lumo can procress

    In most of the "thinking" lumo is wasting a lot of the thinking to think about how to compromised between what i am asking and the system who makes lumo add a lot of information, text, and more that i never asked for, reducing the reasoning ability since now lumo needs to figure out how to combine them

    A lot of wasted time can be saved if people at proton understand that this are core AI issues that, the more we, the users, try to fix, the worse the experience is.

    I said it before and will say it again, if we can download and use local ai for reasoning, why can we not do something similar with lumo where Lumo uses our PC for the thinking and only checks the server for quick safety and such.

    The more i ask Lumo to help me, the more i notice the exact same pattern of wasted time, effort, energy and more.

    BTW, did you all notice i am intentionally repeating the same things? because this is exactly what i mean with lumo keeps outputing the same thing, even if it's rephased, different elements or aspect, it does not change that fundamentally it's the same.

    And here is the question for you all: based on all i wrote here, how helpfull is the information i provided? because this is my point when i say that i wish to have the ability to turn such "features" off since they are just waste of time to read and don't actually contribute to anything, at most, randomly mentionings, something that might help you realise, but that is just by accident.

    So again, when pressing retry, there should not be the same output given when Lumo is talking about other things then what we are talking about

20. Make Lumo launch instantly (reduce 10–15s startup time)

    On Android, Lumo often takes 10–15 seconds to become usable after opening the app. That delay really breaks momentum, especially when you just want to quickly ask something or continue a thought.

    In comparison, apps like ChatGPT are available almost instantly, which makes a big difference in day-to-day use. Making Lumo start faster — or at least showing the chat UI immediately while things load in the background — would noticeably improve the experience.
