Contact birthdays appear on Calendar
Proton Contacts allows users to record the birthday for each contact. It would be great if these birthdays could automatically appear in Proton Calendar.

The ability to create a birthday, as a special kind of event (just like in Google calendar) would be enough for me to subscribe to proton.
A calendar app where you are not able to create your parents birthdays, because years before 1970 are not selectable. Yikes.

I really appreciate the feature on my phone's contacts that automatically creates a calendar event when I add a birthday. I think this would be very handy and convenient if implemented into Proton's ecosystem!

Folks have been asking for this feature for nearly 5 years now!! Birthday reminders, how difficult could it be to implement? Maybe in another 5 years it will finally be added?

This will be a great feature that will mean I will switch from Google calendar to Proton.

This would be an amazing feature! I love the idea of adding someone’s birthday to a contact and having it show up in the calendar. One thing that really bothers me with birthdays, though, is being forced to include a year. Sometimes you don’t know the year, so it would be great if ProtonMail could stop requiring that for birthdays!

This is actually a great idea.

This is really important and detrimental for daily use. Without this I cannot use Proton Calendar as my main calendar. Please add this feature.

I have come across another restriction, you cannot add Anniversaries, Bereavements, or anything other than a Single Birthday.
I have had to extend my script that takes data from Google Contacts - where you can have many 'events' , and with custom names - and had it create a TOTALLY SEPARATE Calendar entry for all these other types ( and calculate the "age" ).Similarly, it creates a new Contact just to record things like Anniversaries - as Birthdays.. Hmmm :-(
Right now, there's no reason for me to totally transition to Proton Contacts or Calendar because the infrastructure of basic requirements simply doesn't exist.

It will take me forever if I have to manually add each one to the cal

I second the idea that other Anniversaries also appear, such as Weddings, Obituaries, etc, AND THEY SHOULD INCLUDE THE AGE
Currently, I download everything in my Google calendar, parse through it for ANY Anniversary, not just Birthdays, extract those into a Vcard file WITH the Age, delete my Proton Birthdays Calendar, upload a new Birthday Calendar.
I have to do this EVERY MONTH, what a time waster when it could be automatic if you OPT IN -

I would welcome this feature for those who are considering Proton as a secure alternative to using traditional cloud-based contacts syncing.

Birthdays and potentially other specified dates too, e.g. anniversaries

@Izis F: I would agree with you but the idea is based on using dates within Proton contacts rather than those contacts outside of the Proton realm.

This feature is concerning because it would require sharing our contact list, which goes against our privacy philosophy.
If you decide to implement it, please include an option for users to choose whether they want to use this feature or not.

Yes...please do this! This would be an incredible contact management feature for busy professionals who value maintaining good relationships!

Too Bad I spent all my votes. This would effectively remove my dependency on less secure stuff for this.
