Remove dependance on google play services
Protonmail android app is dependent on google play services and that is obviously against privacy and security.
Users who removed/disable google play services or used vanilla "lineageos" without gapps cannot get the mail client work properly.
Google play services collect every possible piece of info about the user; location, body sensors, application usage, and every other possible thing. So telling the use to enable/install google services you compromise his privacy and security by 3rd party app which is clearly against the idea if Protomail.
I hope you can correct this and have no dependence on google at all.

I don't understand why people keep calling google an evil corporation. Just 10 years ago when google was a startup. everyone loved google. I think importing from google is convenient because you don't have to manage to mail service when the emails from one mail service is goes to your main one.

Absolute most important google service for proton to distance themselves from is GMS.
the options to import mail and contacts, fine it's a one time dump. if anything it sends a message to google that you've had enough of them and hopefuly they loose visibility of futre data from those services. But GMS, that is a constant feed of data that can be tracked back to our device IDs.
GMS must go! Putting all three posible votes I can into this one! -

Now ProtonPass is embedding Youtube videos directly in its onboarding process 🤦

They should have moderators on these threads. The number of bots here is mind blowing. So annoying that I wouldn't mind doing it for free myself.

For me this is a dealbreaker. As long as I cant recieve Push notifications on my GrapheneOS without GMS, i will not switch to Proton as my main Mail and i will stay at the free tier.

I upvoted more for the disentanglement fro Google Play t Services than the import button. But overall, yeah, don't rely on Google.

Add your app on F-Droid, stop to connect with facebook and google on this website.
Add Mastodon and Jabber for social network.
It's critical

Please implement push notifications without relying on Google Play Services for those of us using de-Googled Android. For now I'm going without notifications...

Dependence on google makes the mobile app unusable.
I can't recommend Proton to anyone who (a) cares about privacy/security and (b) needs email notifications.
Can we at least get an explanation as to whether this will be a future feature, or whether, for some reason, Proton will never create a standalone apk?

I'm forced to use google because of some of the integration features. These include but are not limited to: calendly, zoom, desktop file sync, online document editor (doesn't have to be robust, just basic), WearOS app integration or IMAP capability or an android version of the bridge. When proton decides to implement these basic features then we can ditch google. Also, a photo storage backup for your mobile phone by "date taken" would be nice. I hate backing up my photos to google and amazon

Dude its just import function not a integration of servers that can h@ack your data. Your data is private as Crypto node or block chain technology help it. So it impossible to crack it. I use Ethereum Node of compromise my data through https://cryptonodes.io/ and you should use that too.

I appreciate that I could easily transition away from Gmail with this import feature. There is no reason to get rid of these integrations.

Dude, calm down. It is just an import feature, there are no "ties" between the two companies.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
If you use an Android phone then your operating system is made by Google unless you use a manually installed version like lineageOS that's "de-googled".
Not sure what "malicious notification library" means but I assume this is again something built into the Android operating system, and again I'd recommend using a custom installation to remove Google from the OS.
The button you're referring to to import contacts makes it easy for people to transfer their existing data into proton and abandon Google Contacts altogether. This is a **good** thing, not a bad thing. If you don't want to import from Google then don't. If you do, then that means you were already using Google before and have shared way more data with them by prior usage than you will migrating data away.
I disagree with both of these suggestions, I think the import from Google is a solid feature to help new users easily make the switch to private and secure email and there is no risk to privacy in doing so.
