Phone Number alias / masking
It would be nice to have a app from Proton which gives a virtual phone number. (Like Google Voice)

I would be willing to pay extra for this service so that I can use a number for purchases and a throw away number for services that require it but don't really need it.

There are so many uses for a G Voice like number. My cell phone is literally unusable now that I get spam calls and texts all day. It is also a security benefit for online dating or more useful endeavors (LOL). I have a G Voice number but it forces you to allow the app to record you....not just your calls, but at any time like Alexa. It is basically spyware for you phone. So, i really don't allow it on my phone anymore.

I don't know if this the same idea (don't use Google voice), but it would be great for paid plans (to avoid spam/abuse) to have SMS receipt numbers (you can choose countries or align these with your VPN settings) for verifying various services without having to disclose your primary phone number.

On one hand, this would be a neat feature. In practicality, I would only use this if Proton could guarantee complete privacy like they can with their e-mail system. But, the NSA is so hard-tapped into the international phone grid, that I don't think even Proton can protect their users against illegal mass surveillance even if they wanted to.

Yes, we definitely need it in the States. There are many soft phone providers around, but they are all U.S. based, thus are the subject to all these nasty privacy abusive laws (Patriot Act, CALEA Law etc.). Please, bring a little bit of Swiss privacy to the market. Calendar and Drive are useless for most of the ordinary customers.

I've been looking for a simple way to add a virtual phone to my existing service. Something like a burner phone app, though not ad supported but instead from someone dedicated to privacy. I have Proton Mail, VPN, Calendar, and Files, so what's one more, right? VOIP-based, using Proton Mail contacts, texts saved as emails.

I could really use a HIPAA compliant phone number with voicemail and text features. This is offered in gsuite, but Google doesn't have the same level of security as Proton Mail. Thanks!

I like that one!

Yes, I would have my pbx system use this in a heartbeat. I can't stand google voice or Microsoft teams calling plans.

This is another cool idea, but to beat google you have to unfortunately think like google. They take each thing in stride, and build completed features with cohesive user experiences. Proton has protonmail going for it, but everything being built right now feels like it is a in a silo. To replace Google Suite, Protonmail, Calendar, Drive, etc, will all need to be pristine user experiences, and that's just not the case. For example, not a single person in my company of 1000's could use ProtonCalendar for this reason alone:

This would allow a lot of businesses to move over. Both Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace have built in voice and video tools (often much cheaper than ProtonMail’s professional and visionary packages) I would certainly appreciate getting more for my money instead of just a few extra domains and 10 VPN connections I will never use 😂

I voted for this because this would be fantastic. Perhaps it could be a Feature included in one of the Premium Packages or something sold totally separate. ProtonMail is growing at a fast pace or it seems to be and the more Features, Solutions, Products and Premium Plans it has, the more Customers and Sales ProtonMail will get! I'd love to see a Virtual Number from ProtonMail!
