Separate mail and calendar into different apps
add a separate proton calendar icon to the Proton mail/calendar app, so you can directly open the calendar without opening the mail app.
for example the ms mail and calendar app is one app but it behaves as a mail and a separate calendar app.

Ideally, I would like this to be separate. For example, if I am on a call with a client, I would like to be able to view my calendar, schedule appointments, and send confirmation emails all at the same time. Right now you need to jump between both views.

I created a standalone app for Proton Calendar. It's a simple web view with additional features, such as an icon that updates according to the day. It works pretty well for me. You can find it here: https://proton-calendar-app.framer.website/.
However, I believe it only works on Apple silicon, but if you would like it to work on other setups, let me know. If possible, I will try to add the following features in the future:
- Some offline supports
- Open .ics fileP.S. If there are any features you would like to see, you can submit an issue on GitHub or contribute by suggesting a pull request: https://github.com/VictorinDotNet/Proton-Calendar-macOS/

You can actually display the calendar in the Proton Mail app as well. I don't understand why you absolutely need two separate apps for that.
It's fine just the way it is.

I prefer having separate applications for my calendar and mail. It is inconvenient to be able to only view calendar or a mail view.
Furthermore, it does not make sense, that I have to open "Proton Mail", so that I can see my calendar.

It's very irritating to switch back anf forth between these two apps. i would like to have a view on calendar and mail in parallel.

Please, can somebody from Proton explain, why they find it important to combine both functions in one app?

I get really easily stressed out/distracted when I see my email inbox every time I want to check my calendar. Even just adding a setting to open the calendar view as default instead of mail would work for me, or separate apps to open each view too

New user here - regarding desktop apps:
I don't understand the choice of having the calendar, contacts and mail bundled together like they are. As a standard I have my mailclient open on one screen and my calendar open on another screen. This helps me to easily create new events in my calendar, because I can easily see my mail with the information at the same time. Right now it is a mouse clicking game which is terrible un-ergonomic and to put it simply a pain in the a..! I apoligize, but sometimes profanity helps to enhance the point.
I am a new user, for a couple of weeks now. I wanted to get away from google.
And I already love your Proton Pass and Proton VPN apps. But with mail, contacts and calendar you have some ways to go. With the money I am paying I expect you to do better than google. Safety is one thing, but if you can't match what I need for productivity I am finding another ecosystem to invest in. -

It would be great if Mail and Calendar were separate apps. I often work in the Mail programme and need to transfer data from an email to the calendar. But the current Mail & Calendar app only allows me to switch back and forth. It would be very helpful to at least decouple the calendar from the Mail window. At the moment, I have to copy things from Mail into Apple Notes and then transfer them to the calendar. That can't really be good for security either.

Multiple windows (both emails and calendar)
When using ProtonMail, I want to be able to:
- Open a specific email in a new (secondary) window, So that I can read that email and type in a new email in a different window.
- Open the calendar in a new (secondary) window, So that I can look at my calender while processing emails.
- Open multiple emails in one window each.
- Open multiple calendar views in one window each. All this is possible in the WEB version, but I need to use the full search feature of the local installed ProtonMail client.

PLEASE provide a feature where you can look at the calendar at the same time as still viewing emails. Often information on dates and logistics are in the bodies of emails and I need to refer back-and-forth between my calendar and emails but currently I have to close the email then open the calendar and then close the calendar and go back to the email again and again and it's really frustrating. Thank you

On desktop, I need to be able to look at an email and my calendar at the same time so that I can schedule calendar events based on email replies. Currently I can use two different browser tabs, but I would prefer to use the dedicated desktop app, especially because I have a thousand other browser tabs open.

Please do, so on macOS you can actually replace the Apple native calendar app.
