Contact Application
I suggest that Proton develop a contact application similar to the Contact application that Apple has.

Please!!
Google Contacts is extremely good, and I would very much like Proton to have a good contacts app I can rely upon. -

I'm very interested in a stand alone contacts app. Anything to get as far away from either apple or android contacts would be preferred. Having my contacts harvested at their will for their purposes has always bothered me. I've made a commitment in Proton as a tool against both apple and google. Having a contacts app would only help in that respect.

there is no alternative today, saving contacts locally on the phone with manual .vcf exports. Having this included in Proton maybe as addon in Proton Pass would be a big added value!

Yes this is very important phase for us who are trying to leave Google. This must be fully integrated to Android and iOS.

Yes! I do not like all the random apps on my phone having access to everything on my contact cards. A sync button that copies the information to Proton's app and allows you to choose which fields to save and delete would be amazing. The only information my phone needs is the name and number. Everything else should be securely stored with encryption--Address, security codes, etc.

I agree, but much more like the Google contact app.

A secure way to have my contacts also on platform level, so iMessage knows the names and numbers of chat participants is kind of critical. Also to know who is calling me.
Please also add Contacts and Calendar integration for birthdays and anniversaries.

The CONTACT application is far too obscure to find. It should come up as an application option from MAIL as does CALENDAR, VPN, DRIVE etc. Right now the only way to find contacts is to go to calendar and then the tiny button on the far right of the screen from calendar. Secondly, CONTACTS should open up as a full screen, a separate tab should open up just like MAIL, CALENDAR, DRIVE. Thank you

Must have access to contact data from my phone, both for things like calls and for email addresses

Totally agree. I think that the idea of having an app for each function on each system is the best option. Having mail / calendar / contact splitted between three softwares in my PC, smartphone, web app, is the standard in Windows, Mac, Nextcloud ... And so should it be on Proton. I don't know if it's the best for everyone, but as it's the standard, it is what I am more familiar with, so the more produtive with.

contact management is too basic and the sidebar too cramped.
I'd like to have a full-screen application -

I don't know what Contacts application Apple has (depends on what email application you are using, right?)
But any contact application is currently better than the Proton Contacts interface. It's too disempowered (you can't do stuff to multiple contacts easily, and can't do ANYTHING to multiple contacts in a group view.
And that sidebar as the only interface? No. That is not adequate. At least something that is half-screen or a whole window. Contacts management, believe it or not, used to be better in many ways in Protonmail. It seems to be getting kludgier and kludgier. I feel like I have my hands tied when I use the interface.
