Option to set a pin for the desktop app
Please add a feature that allows auto lockout after startup / a specified number of minutes on the desktop, and requires a pin to unlock. This can be useful and convenient in situations where the application is installed on a computer in an office setting or on a terminal where the user frequently has to walk away.

It would be very useful for those of us who install Proton Mail on our work computers. Yes, the old argument can be made that if an attacker has physical access to your device than you are already compromised, true - negating modern anti-tamper encryption etc.
However, what is the 'attacker' is an authorised user? Such as a workplace administrator? The Mail App absolutely needs a PIN akin to Pass & Auth for desktop.

This has been open since 2024?
I was hacked once where someone got access to my computer, and because GMail defaults to staying logged in, they were able to access other accounts / reset passwords with ease.
The top-tier security email platform of 2026 doesn't support basic safety features for their own desktop app? What is going on.

This is a gaping hole in security. Really needs to be upvoted

I would like this for desktop and android apps. My computer is sometimes used by other people and so it would be useful to have a PIN to restrict access to Mail and Drive. It would also be nice for android apps. I know OneDrive has a PIN option on the app and I found this useful to restrict assess.

Since I have proton installed on my notebooks this is a critical option for me. It can always happen that somehow some gets physical access to my portable device and can just "open" the Mail app.
EDIT: Even a simple PIN would be enough imo Make it like the pass app where you can either have biometrics, PIN or Extrapasswort

I'm surprised that this request hasn't had more votes. Given the privacy focused nature of Proton Mail it seems silly not to have some sort of password protection to open the desktop mail app. This saves me the need to logout and in every time I finish work.

Unlock the app to read emails, as on phone, with pin or fingerprint.
