As a fairly new Proton user (Mail, Calendar, Drive, VPN, and Proton Pass), I’m writing to share a feature request that I believe could meaningfully expand Proton’s value proposition for professionals like myself who live and work internationally.

Proton already powers my email, cloud, VPN, and password management. The next logical step would be to consolidate communication and connectivity tools under the same privacy-first roof.

🔧 Feature Requests

1. Proton eSIM with Global or Regional Data Plans
   • Privacy-first, encrypted mobile data with regional bundles (UK/EU, US/Canada, Asia-Pacific) and global roaming options
   • Ideal for digital nomads and remote-first professionals
   • Optional dual-mode (standalone eSIM or fallback to local SIM)

2. Proton VoIP Number (Regional and Global Availability)
   • Secure, Proton-managed phone numbers (e.g., UK, US, EU) for use in:
   • Business comms
   • SMS/2FA
   • WhatsApp/Signal account setup
   • Proton-to-Proton call encryption and voicemail transcription preferred

3. Unified Proton Comms Dashboard
   • A consolidated view for:
   • Email
   • Call history
   • Voicemail (with transcription)
   • SMS threads
   • Seamless integration with Proton Calendar and Contact lists

4. End-to-End Encrypted Voice & SMS
   • Enable Proton-to-Proton encrypted voice/video calls
   • Option for secure peer-to-peer calling with fallback to traditional VoIP
   • Warnings when sending unencrypted SMS or data

5. Alias-Specific Customisation
   • Custom fonts, signatures, and default behaviours per alias or domain
   • Helpful for users managing multiple businesses or identities under one Proton account

6. Simplified SMTP Integration & Porting
   • Built-in options for:
   • SMTP setup (for domains managed via Postmark/Fastmail/etc.)
   • Easy port-in or port-out for existing phone numbers
   • Interoperability with existing tools like Devyce or Dialpad

7. New Proton Global Tier Bundle
   • A premium subscription plan combining:
   • Proton Mail
   • Calendar
   • Drive
   • VPN
   • Pass
   • eSIM + VoIP number
   • Designed specifically for mobile professionals who value privacy, security, and convenience

Why This Matters

I split my time between South Africa and the UK, operating fully remotely across highly regulated, global sectors. As a neurodivergent consultant working across time zones, both security-conscious infrastructure and streamlined functionality are critical.

Professionals like me are piecing together tools like Devyce (for UK VoIP numbers), Postmark (for SMTP relay), Revolut (for global eSIMs), and Proton (for everything else)—but we’d far prefer a unified privacy-first solution. With Proton’s infrastructure, reputation, and mission, you are uniquely positioned to deliver exactly that.

The global freelancer economy is growing rapidly, and so is the number of privacy-conscious individuals working across borders. I hope you’ll consider this roadmap as a natural evolution of the Proton ecosystem.
