Full API-Support
Proton is promoted as THE European, privacy-friendly alternative to the major US cloud providers. Unfortunately, many important features are missing. In addition, many desktop applications vary depending on the operating system or are not available at all (Proton Drive for Linux). Proton itself refers to the necessary support from the community.
In order for genuine community engagement to be possible at all, Proton should completely open, document, version, and maintain the compatibility of all existing APIs. Then it would finally be possible to establish open source tooling (SDKs, utilities, e.g., for migration tasks, etc.) around Proton.
This would also make it possible to develop a Proton Drive client for Linux, which the community has been waiting for since 2020 and which has been promised several times.
In principle, it would also be very fitting for Proton, with its own claim to digital sovereignty, to offer an open, unlimited API here.
