Template
Reusable email templates for frequently used replies
I would like to suggest a simple email templates feature for Proton Mail.
This is an old and useful feature found in email clients such as Thunderbird: users can save a message as a template and reuse it instead of repeatedly copying and pasting the same text.
My use case is very simple. I run Psico.Online (my website) and frequently receive similar emails from psychologists interested in joining our platform. Today alone, I replied to around 10 people with essentially the same message, changing only the name and occasionally a few details.
What I would like is not an auto-reply, mail merge, or a system with variables.
Just something simple:
Reply or compose → Insert template → select a saved template → edit the message normally → send.
The template would simply insert its saved content into the composer. From that point on, it would behave like any other email: I could change the person's name, remove a paragraph, add something specific, or rewrite part of it before sending.
Currently, the alternative is to find an old email, copy its content, paste it into the new reply, remove anything specific to the previous recipient, edit it, and send it. It works, but it is unnecessary repetitive work.
Thunderbird has supported reusable email templates for years, for example:
Thunderbird Support — using reusable templates
There are also Thunderbird extensions specifically designed to make templates available directly from the compose window:
I think a lightweight implementation in Proton Mail would already be enough: save a template, give it a name, and insert it into a new message or reply.
No automation is necessary. The point is simply to avoid repeatedly searching for an old message, copying it, pasting it, cleaning it up, and editing it when the message could already be available as a reusable template.
Thank you...
