Andy Yen steps aside
The user base most likely to go all-in with Proton are the least likely to approve of Yen's AI delirium. (I'm referencing the latest 404 Media article.)
We don't want a product that is AI coded. And we don't want the people hard at work, making Proton a viable alternative to big tech, being treated like garbage - like they work for Big Tech.
Proton needs a new CEO.

I am deeply shocked and saddened to learn about what has been going on recently at Proton.
Andy Yen needs to address this and make a public statement apologising for how employees have been treated. No employee should ever feel intimidate and belittled or afraid to speak up about their concerns, particularly when it comes to security and quality of products that millions of people rely on! I joined proton for its reputation around security privacy and trust.
Any Yen needs to listen about concerns of his employees and the wider public and take accountability.
I look forward to hearing a public apology from Andy Yen.
CEOs don't bully or intimidate. They should listen and take note about concerns seriously and work with their teams to make better products.

Jumped in from Google 2 month ago, can't a tech company simply be normal ? I want secured e-mail coded with care, not rushed on the order of a tech-bro AI-loving CEO

I am deeply shocked and disappointed. Regarding the article from 404 Media: If a developer finds it necessary to pentest new code for at least a few days before pushing it live, there is surely a good reason for doing so! I must therefore assume that, moving forward, untested AI-Slopified and potentially unsafe code will make its way into the production. That is a rather damning realization for a company who advertises with "privacy and freedom." I have COMPLETELY LOST ALL TRUST in Proton, and as I have already stated on Reddit, will definitely not be renewing my subscription.

I already cancelled my subscription in the light of the recent revelations. Proton needs to do a lot to restore respect and trust, and Andy is certainly not fit for that job.

I will follow how Proton's policy and leadership are presented in the coming weeks. If there's no change, I'm leaving Proton for good.

I will follow this development closely now, daily. If not resolved within a week I will cancel next payment.

Respectfully, Andy, you lost a lot of ground here. The vase of trust has cracks - put your ego on the altar before it’s too late.
Please do not kill Proton in the “pursuit of AI.” It is an important platform, if anything bring in someone who can align AI Ethics so your codebase doesn’t become an unsustainable mess.
You can still do the right thing. Do not become the thing you hate. Remember why you are here.

You don't understand your users, you mistreat your employees. It's unnacceptable, time to leave.

My yearly subscription was renewed last month and I want a prorated refund based on loss of confidence in the service/service provider because of your CEOs behaviour, employee treatment, and utter insanity regarding security measures and AI as reported in 404. I'll never give you another cent if Andy and any others like him are not fired and the company put right to what it sold itself as.
Shame on you. This isn't what the company presented itself as and what I signed up for, which is a privacy and SECURITY focused platform. And employees should NEVER be treated like that.
If you think people won't abandon and migrate to another platform as fast as they did from Google to you you're delusional.
Thank you to the hardworking employees who are trying to do the right thing and good jobs and bring this to light

The revelations today are damning to the very core of Proton.
Proton is an alternative, not a necessity. You are not a walled garden. You are not the default option. Many of us here have de-googled and turned to Proton in its wake. The hubris to think we won't de-proton with you abandoning your core USP is astounding.
From the revelations, it sounds like the hardworking devs in the company still share the core vision that brought us here, but Yen has clearly lost sight of this.
Ironically, AI has proved his own redundancy, and it is he who must step aside for the company to survive.

Uggh I left big tech for Proton and now this? This is such a massive disappointment. Will likely start to look elsewhere once my subscription is up
