Andy Yen steps aside
The user base most likely to go all-in with Proton are the least likely to approve of Yen's AI delirium. (I'm referencing the latest 404 Media article.)
We don't want a product that is AI coded. And we don't want the people hard at work, making Proton a viable alternative to big tech, being treated like garbage - like they work for Big Tech.
Proton needs a new CEO.

I’m not renewing my annual unlimited subscription for now. If the CEO and CTO don't go, I’m off. Cheers.

i just committed 120€/yr to proton's 'unlimited' plan and started moving pretty much everything into your ecosystem. i was ready to go all in on proton, and now i'm starting to question whether i made a mistake. stop the ai ********.

The whole C-Suite and management has allowed this to happen. This is not only about the CEO.

I'm glad Andy decided to throw his fit before my annual renewal rather than after. Maybe AI can make up for my lost subscription fee.

That CEO needs therapy...

The "manifesto" is exactly the kind of alucinated bullying that the industry doesn't need.
It builds distrust and anxiety in the devs and in the users. THAT is a big "no no" to a product like Proton.Andy Yen must leave and Proton must be kept in the right track.
If this doesn't happen I will cancel my unlimited account and advise others to do so as well. -

If Andy can't understand the value of taking a few days to pentest while being CEO of a company that prides itself on security he needs to go. I don't want Proton development to be faster I want it to be high quality.
Aside from this Andy has also demonstrated a fundamental misunderstanding of his customer base. He needs to go for the sake of all, employees and customers.

Absolutely cancelling my subscription and moving elsewhere if CEO and CTO are not changed in the coming months. Yen is forgetting what subscribers are actually paying for.

Andy Yen has shown that he is unfit for his role, in both how he speaks to his staff and how he dismisses their concerns and expertise.

The CTO's 'manifesto' (see 404 article) is exactly the kind of exalted nonsense I want to move away from. If I don't see any movement in the exact opposite direction within the next month, subscription and account will be gone. Remember it's easier to leave Proton than it was to leave Google.

Cancelled my subscription; Proton showed that is no different from big tech companies. I don't want upper management belittling skilled workers that want to create a great product just for the sake of using AI left and right.

The only way I would consider sticking with Proton at this point is if Andy leaves (along with the executives who have been enabling him). Based on the 404 media article and the several other public gaffes he's had, he is not fit to lead the company. The toxic culture he is responsible for is not something I'm interested in supporting and not conducive to making the secure and effective products I expect. I have been a subscriber for over 5 years and regularly recommended it to people. I use most of Proton's offerings, but I'm more than willing to move my money elsewhere.
Regarding the AI usage, many of Andy's statements seem wildly out of touch. AI is a tool, a very effective tool, but only a tool and not a replacement for human judgement. When your technical staff is saying they need time to validate AI output I expect them to get it, not for them to get harassed for lacking "velocity". Personally, I don't actually mind AI coding, LLMs are very good at most coding tasks. But security requires getting it right the first time, and that is something LLMs are absolutely not capable of.

Been using paid Proton for two years to get away from big tech. If Yen behaves like that and treats his employees that poorly he has to go. And with him all the other Execs that support him. If not then I won't be a user in another two years time.

Time to go Andy, you are hurting the mission. This is a CVE 10.0 in my book for Proton. Action must be taken immediately. You learned nothing after last years blunder..

I can't agree more. I've been using Proton for years, as an active subscriber, because I wanted to support a company that cares about people and the foundational rights people have. Now one of the managers is actively destroying the company's mission, in my opinion (should I say that the tool is literally built on work stolen from millions of other people?).
I, too, don't want ai coded garbage. I don't want to get 5 new features every week. I don't want productivity over everything else. I just want a stable, reliable product, from a company that respects and cares about its employees and doesn't force them to use tools without their desire. -

As a software dev and a security-conscious user, Andy's ethos expressed in the 404 media article is antithetical to the reason proton has been popular for years, and it will drive myself and many others away from the service if he is not removed.

will leave the service if company culture remains the same, and it cant change without new leadership.
