Andy Yen steps aside
The user base most likely to go all-in with Proton are the least likely to approve of Yen's AI delirium. (I'm referencing the latest 404 Media article.)
We don't want a product that is AI coded. And we don't want the people hard at work, making Proton a viable alternative to big tech, being treated like garbage - like they work for Big Tech.
Proton needs a new CEO.

He has such a loser way of thinking

My yearly subscription was renewed last month and I want a prorated refund based on loss of confidence in the service/service provider because of your CEOs behaviour, employee treatment, and utter insanity regarding security measures and AI as reported in 404. I'll never give you another cent if Andy and any others like him are not fired and the company put right to what it sold itself as.
Shame on you. This isn't what the company presented itself as and what I signed up for, which is a privacy and SECURITY focused platform. And employees should NEVER be treated like that.
If you think people won't abandon and migrate to another platform as fast as they did from Google to you you're delusional.
Thank you to the hardworking employees who are trying to do the right thing and good jobs and bring this to light

My proton unlimited has been canceled and will stay canceled until Andy Yen and his spineless CTO pawn are replaced.

Unless things drastically change and Yen leaves the company as a whole, I'm cancelling my business plan. I'm not paying for his wet AI dream.

Cancelling my renewal and actively looking for alternatives. Unless Yen and the CTO are replaced, I'm done.

The revelations today are damning to the very core of Proton.
Proton is an alternative, not a necessity. You are not a walled garden. You are not the default option. Many of us here have de-googled and turned to Proton in its wake. The hubris to think we won't de-proton with you abandoning your core USP is astounding.
From the revelations, it sounds like the hardworking devs in the company still share the core vision that brought us here, but Yen has clearly lost sight of this.
Ironically, AI has proved his own redundancy, and it is he who must step aside for the company to survive.

Uggh I left big tech for Proton and now this? This is such a massive disappointment. Will likely start to look elsewhere once my subscription is up

I can't use Proton without trust, and I can't trust Proton with Andy Yen. I'm cancelling my subscription if he isn't gone soon.

This is a non-negotiable requirement for me to renew my subscription.

It seems the CEO and CTO are no longer a good fit for the company and it's stated values and should be removed as soon as possible. If they are not removed soon then I and many others will be removing business from Proton. It's as simple as that.

Did not sign up for ProtonMail seven years ago to deal with AI slop, vibe coding, and a jerk that abuses his staff. Only reason i'm not done with Proton is my subscription re-ups in two days. Canceling after that. Should have canceled when Lumo or whatever AI garbage was on by default. I'm not so stupid I need AI to help me with my email and files. No one should trust vibe coding.
And why is "X Post" beside the post? X is terrible.

Fully agree. As a long time user, I will cancel my subscription if they don't handle this appropriately.

Being better than Google seems like a low bar, and yet....
So, what's a secure, AI-free alternative?

I've already cancelled my account. I will consider re-subscribing if:
- Andy Yen is removed from power
- Bart Butler is removed from power
- AI is no longer forced on the developers and users
- American "line-go-up" tech-bro dogma is cauterized out of Proton's culture -

Agreed. I don't think I can trust Proton again though. Already switching to other providers. Never giving my money to them again.

I've been a Visionary subscriber for years and the service has gotten so much worse over the years. It's been a meme that users keep asking for the core products to be fixed but Proton just keeps launching new ones instead. Now I get why.
There's no way I renew my Visionary subscription while Yen is still there. I'd consider staying if he leaves, but I'm not counting on it so I'm gonna go ahead and start moving things out now. Huge PITA but yeah, not while Yen runs things.
