A service with the features like NextDNS but with the trust and real privacy from proton. Thanks.

A customizable DNS (akin to NEXT DNS where users can do the following:
* Set custom block rules (to supplement Net shields)
* Set schedule (to block social media during night time etc)
* Simple metrics to see what was blocked, find issues etcFor free users that would be limited, for paid users there would be more customization available.
It would also need to be usable for Proton VPN users

Something similar to NextDNS.

A public blocking DNS filter somewhat comparable to Mullvad Encrypted DNS would be a welcome addition to Proton's offerings.

Proton VPN with NetShield is sometimes to strict and I would like to have the option to set the filters/blocklist myself like with NextDNS.
I also got the impression Proton VPN uses a lot more battery on my iPhone than NextDNS does. So when I am not on a public WiFi I prefer NextDNS, even when it is less secure. It would be great if Proton would also offer just a DNS service (like NextDNS) and then for extra security the VPN service when on public WiFi.

It would be great to create a custom DNS similar to NextDNS with the trustworthiness of Proton. If it's complicated to integrate it with ProtonVPN, the best approach would be to create a separate service where we could choose our lists and settings. This is because the current NetShield is practically ineffective, as we have no control over what is or isn't being blocked.

Would be goot to have NetShield functionally equivalent to NextDNS or ControlD

If you could make your own NetShield functionally equivalent to NextDNS or ControlD, then I would not require a custom DNS option either, because I could just use Proton. I just don't like the very limited and intransparent functionality of Proton's current integrated DNS option.

I would like to consolidate DNS (currently use Control-D and SmarterDNSProxy in different scenarios) into Proton (currently a Plus user but would upgrade to a single provider very happily)

Yes, it would be nice to have a DNS service similar to Decloudus. Their DNS server blocks all ads, trackers, and malware sites. They also offer a completely degoogled DNS server, and one that allows certain services like Youtube.
It's a paid service, and there's a throttled free version available for free users.
I would open a paid Proton subscription for the half degoogled one. I know there is a lot of value on Protonmail already, but it's not relevant to my interests. This would definitely add value.

This would be a great addition to Proton's security tools.

I'd love to see a Proton Mail DNS service - something that is anonymous and secure.

I left a feedback about two weekd ago regarding a third party DNS resolution. At least the Android version of the app connects to dns11.quad9.net/443, presumably for DNS resolutions over HTTPS.
1. Why is it necessary? I blocked that connection through a device firewall and the PM app seems to still work.
2. This DNS server brings question of privacy. Especially, given there seems to be no alternative choices in the app setting.
3. Since I use black(/pi)-hole type of blocklists with my device and a local DNS cache in my home router with more extensive blacklists, DOH usage by PM is bypassing both, thus negative my privacy and security setups.
Expected: Use system DNS or add an setting to change DNS setting within the PM app.
Thank you. -

A DNS Server with DNSSEC and DNS-over-TLS or HTTPS, with custom blacklists. Could be integrated as a Feature in ProtonVPN
Similar like to NextDNS or the Blockada App (local VPN).
