Proton Chat - Messaging app
Let's make it in some math style:
ProtonMail : Gmail = ProtonChat : Hangouts
:)
Secure private chat same principle of secure email, but applied to chats.

What about setting up a Matrix server for Protonmail users?
- Secure messaging protocol
- Does not reinvent the wheel because it would use an existing protocol
- Does not set up a new walled garden of messaging but still...
- Allows Protonmail to brand its own messaging service -

Create a chat system so any body with protonmail can chat like google chat so I don't have to send a whole e-mail

that's a really good idea, but it should be added to then loging of protonmail. it could be attached to an email or to an sidebar. no additional app.

I honestly think this is a great idea, because I have a business called Homestead Movies and we used Hangouts for our Business texting service. Then we found out about Protonmail, and we are currently switching over to it! But we still go back to Gmail and use Hangouts which is very confusing, because obviously if you have two email services that you are using it is hard to find things and keep everything organized and in one spot. That is why I think that making a ProtonChat would be a great idea!

I'd vote this one down. There are plenty of other good security focused message apps like Telegram and Signal to name a few. Continue to focus on Mail, Contacts, and Calendar and maybe build integration with other message apps if possible.

Add inter-organizational coordination functions similar to what Microsoft Teams and Slack offer with the option to creat “teams” with channels for streamlined communications. This added feature would undoubtedly attract organizations that currently rely on a combination of G-suite and Microsoft Teams to effectively collaborate.

We use ProtonMail at work and it would be nice to be able to use a service that is already downloaded on our computers to send in office instant messages. I mean it’s fine to text but it’s very unprofessional to use a phone while a patient is in the office and we can’t send patient info via texting. ProtonMail is perfect for protected info and I just wish it had the option of instant messaging.

As a much safer alternative to whatsapp than the other options out there I wanted to use deltachat. But it seems like this is somehow not working due to the security level in protonmail.
So would it be possible to build an delta chat client app - maybe within the email app - that could handle delta chat from inside protomail and so provide also a VERY safe chat option? -

I think it would be great to add social features such as political or sports or animal lover groups. Also newsfeed would awesome as well so people can voice their opinion on issues from local to national.

Protonmail & VPN are great. After what I read recently on The Verge, I fear Signal Messenger can not be trusted because they are trying to convince their boss to develop ways to identify users and evict them from their platform if they do not like the way the user is using the messenger.
With that in mind, it would be great if Proton would develop an encrypted SMS free from potential "identify & censor" policies.

Hoping to resurface this feature request in light of the current spotlight issue of WhatsApp and the migration to Signal and Telegram. In investigating running my own instance of prosody, ejabberd, etc, I've deemed it too important to risk blowing. I could (and would) pay $10/month to matrix.org to host ens. I'd rather pay Proton an additional ~$5/month to integrate xmpp.

I wish to have an secure mail / messenger service with a new technology to send message from one proton account to another, without using the e-mail adress to prevent from spam.

Excellent idea. Encrypted user to user! I truly appreciate your service to keep info private. I have all my tax clients using your service to keep their info private.

Whatsapp users are migrating en masse to Signal, which I’ve been using for awhile. Yasha Levine posted a warning a few days ago that Signal was/is secretly funded by the U.S. government. This is very disturbing if true. So..... I would love for Protonmail to develop a private messaging app.

A lot of people are starting to look for something like this along with email, storage, etc. If you can put it all in one place it would help. I have a handful of friends looking for solutions and this would bring more on.

Alla luce degli ultimi avvenimenti circa la privacy di WA, sarebbe opportuno offrire analoga app su Proton.

This feels like a waste of time. There are a ton of other great encrypted chat applications out there already (Signal/Telegram/etc).
