  1. CLI Apps for integrations / automations

One big drawback of using proton instead of a big tech alternative (or nextcloud) is the lack of integration with third party services for automation or productivity.

I get that being E2E, it is complicated to make such integration through webhooks. But having CLI apps as a bridge could help (just like the App for proton mail bridge, but for all the proton services (at least mail, drive, docs, calendar).

It should be easier to integrate proton into any workflow with automation platform like n8n etc...

  2. Improve proton docs, as well as sheets. (imlement templates as well).

Build an AI assistant for Docs, Sheets and create a Resume maker (with the ability to create resume out of linkedin profile link).

  3. Virtualization like QubesOS DVMs--to protect the masses from the impending AI Spear-Phishing Swarms (Heiding et al., 2025).

Recent research shows with a little development, modern LLMs can be used to fully automate spear-phishing campaigns-- from reconnaissance to email and evaluation.

These atracks work as well as human hacking experts with 54% success.

This also makes it way more profitable.

Average non-QubesOS users need virtualization like disposable VMs in QubesOS.

Heiding, F., & Lermen, S. (2025). Evaluating large language models' capability to launch fully automated spear phishing campaigns. In ICML 2025 Workshop on Reliable and Responsible Foundation Models. https://openreview.net/forum?id=f0uFpuea1s

  4. Add option to disable blinking eyes of Lumo cat

Lumo is great new thing, but I find the constant blinking of the cat's eyes on the mobilemapp to be distracting. It would be great if there was an option to turn off all moving images and other distracting items. This would make the application better accessible for most. Thank you for considering this feedback!

  5. Add Support for Storing and Using Digital Certificates in Proton Pass

Currently, Proton Pass allows storing credentials, notes, and files, but does not provide a way to store and use digital certificates for authentication or signing.

I propose adding a feature that enables users to securely store their digital certificates in Proton Pass and use them directly without installing them on the operating system or browser.

This would be extremely useful when working on shared or untrusted devices, where installing certificates locally is not safe or practical. It would also improve security and portability for users who rely on certificates for identity verification or encrypted communications.

  6. Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) for Drive, Pass, and wherever applicable

RBAC would be useful for personal accounts (i.e. families) but particularly for businesses in which role assignments are standard management and security practice. I'm not sure what the most user-friendly way is to handle the CRUDing of roles or similar operations, however, I think it should be possible to smoothly integrate this in the current experience.

  7. Crowdsource funding for Proton Spreadsheet. I (and others) would give $100 right now.

A spreadsheet is the only thing keep google customers from infusing cash to Proton. This is a business error. Instead of only votes, create crowdfunded initiatives. I would give $100 immediately (I'm poor) to fund this initiative. Voting is nice, crowdsourced money to do a job that you know takes x amount of hours. No brainer.

  9. Sign in with Proton/SSO

Email aliases are just hard to use in that you need to open Proton Pass (not Proton Mail!?) app to create one, then go back to the website that timed out, log in and then remember to save your password.

Sign in with Proton could have an easier way to sign in with passkeys and just be more convenient with the option to share only an alias

  10. Allow Sub Labels

Today we can have sub folders, but it would be very handy to also be able to add Sub Labels. For example I can then have a main Lable called Inboxes. And then I can create a specific Lable for every email account I have.

  14. Utilize the Privacy Pass protocol

    https://blog.kagi.com/kagi-privacy-pass
    https://www.privacyguides.org/articles/2025/04/21/privacy-pass/
Privacy Pass is a protocol that allows people to cryptographically prove they have access to a service without revealing who they are. I think Proton could be able to use this in really cool ways, for example to prevent Proton from correlating Proton VPN activity to users, or to use SimpleLogin aliases without Proton being able to correlate the alias from the original email.

  17. Single Linux yum repo for all Proton apps

Right now the Proton VPN can be installed from a Linux yum repo. For example: https://repo.protonvpn.com/fedora-42-stable/
This is great, because to update it, all I have to do is run "sudo dnf update", and if there is a new version of Proton VPN available, it gets updated.

However, all the other Proton Linux apps (Pass, Authenticator, and the Mail beta) get installed by individual rpm downloads. Which means, if I want to update them, I have to download each rpm individually and re-install it to get the upgrade.

There should be one single yum repo for ALL proton apps, so…

  18. More Privacy and Security with emails

I think that there is way Proton could be the best encrypted and private platform (never mind that any email sent from a non non-Proton account will not be E2EE and can still be read by third parts because it is stored on non-Proton servers). When a Proton user receives a non-E2EE email, say from a Gmail user, Proton must decrypt that email and have access to it in primary memory in plaintext. If Proton's servers are compromised and suffer from zombie memory attacks (even a trusted execution environment (TEE) running cubes OS would not be safe from this kind…

  19. Let users choose which emails trigger notifications (by sender, recipient/alias , label, or folder)

    User story:

As a Proton Mail user, I want to CONTROL WHICH EMAILS TRIGGER PUSH NOTIFICATIONS so that I’m only alerted about messages that require my immediate attention.

I want to enable notifications only for certain senders, recipients/aliases, labels, or folders, so I don’t get distracted by unimportant emails.

I also want the option to REVERSE this logic—receiving notifications only for emails that aren’t labelled or sorted, such as personal or unexpected messages.

Ultimately, a filter system for notifications, giving users the same flexibility they already have for organising their inboxes.

This would make notifications more relevant, REDUCE NOISE, and…
