Englisch Version:
An extension to the Proton Wallet app (or a new standalone app) that restores our privacy—even when offline or at the supermarket checkout. Google has its fingers in everything these days. Here’s how I envision it:
A digital ticket vault: We need a way to securely add flight and train tickets, stadium passes, vouchers, and loyalty cards, and access them offline.
Private NFC payments (without Google services!): We simply link our own payment method (credit card, bank account, or PayPal) directly within the Proton app. At the checkout, we can then conveniently pay via NFC using our phones. Proton establishes the secure connection, and the amount is debited from the linked payment method.
I’ve been a Proton Unlimited user for several years now. I follow your developments closely, think the progress is incredibly cool, and love seeing the ecosystem grow. I hope this idea resonates with you and the rest of the community and that it gets implemented. That would be awesome.

Imo building Proton Pay as a alternative to Google Pay & Apple Pay is way more urgent. Either adding this feature to the existing Proton Wallet or building a new app is fine

I'd vote against this, if that option was available.
I want Proton to provide communication services as safe and secure as possible, and moving into financial services - which is not a core competency or business interest of Proton, as far as I know - would make Proton *less* safe and secure; it would garner more interest from crooks and governments and open Proton to greater risks of financial failure.
Please don't do this. There are other financial organisations available with the resources and competency to offer secure financial services. -

I think proton should generally stick with digital privacy services that are not financial in nature.
Doing something like this would reqiure the company submit financial information to various authorities to stay in compliance with international laws. That could potientially compromise other privacy features on proton's platform.
For those people who need a truly private alternative, monero exists.

If you are just looking for a virtual debit card that is privacy focused. I highly recommend tangem pay... it's not at all like google or apple pay... I wish it was, but it does give you a virtual debit card that you can use and pull from your tangem wallet.

I don't use mobile payments, but if Proton implemented it, I would try it, and if I liked it and it was confidential and secure, I would stick with it.

This is really important. Please help the people of Iran achieve freedom and democracy. Using the free internet and freedom of expression is their inalienable right.

We, the people of Iran, thank Proton VPN and its stakeholders and supporters for providing us with the opportunity to communicate freely with the free world.Due to the global internet being filtered by the ruling and dictatorial regime in Iran. And also the sanctions imposed by the UN, the US, and Europe. Please help us, the people of Iran, who want freedom and democracy and for our voices to reach human rights institutions and all over the world.Don't let our voices, the freedom-loving people of Iran, be silenced by a bloodthirsty and dictatorial government. Our government completely cut off the internet during the protests and tortured and murdered thousands of people on the streets, just to . The reason for freedom, freedom of expression, and a normal life

Develop a program to help the Iranian people, who are suffering from sanctions and filtering by their dictatorial government, send their voices of freedom and democracy to the whole world. In this regard, help . Please tell the people, we in Iran do not have the ability or possibility to pay fees to foreign banks and platforms due to sanctions and economic pressure.Due to sanctions, our credit and bank card system has been cut off from the rest of the world. And also, the government and regime based in Iran have filtered the global internet, and we are only able to communicate with the free world through free, secure filter breakers.

Hello, this is Privacy101 relaying Andy Yen’s response on an AMA.
I am personally quite interested in doing this, but there are lots of legal and regulatory hurdles so this is not the easiest one to do. But I have also heard from a lot of users that this is something they really want, and that will certainly be factored in our strategic planning. -Andy

I think Proton just have to build a front-end for https://www.currencycloud.com/ to become a Wise competitor. Even Revolut is using it.

I don't think Proton needs to become a digital bank. However, given how Google is blacklisting secure OSs like GrapheneOS and limiting what apps like Google Wallet can do, I think Proton Wallet should be compatible with bank debit/credit cards in the future.

Great idea! In Android version 15, we'll be able to choose a different wallet than Google's.
