  1. Add support for LaTeX documents

Maybe the number of people who would use this feature is no enormous, but I still think there is a gap in the market that Proton could fill. Importantly, the people who would use this feature is willing to pay.

There is essentially one popular option in the market which is Overleaf, which requires a paid subscription to share a document with more than 2 people, and it is amazingly expensive (€19 monthly). Yet many people pay for it (research funds, it is the university who actually pays).

Probably this is not immediate to build, but maybe in the future...

  2. Have a Peertube Channel / Instance

As you are making more channels and videos on Youtube (https://proton.me/blog/protons-new-youtube-channel-aims-to-arm-you-with-information), could you let people who want to watch those videos on a open-source non-ad-intrusive website such as a Peertube Instance. Either using an existing one or creating one

  3. Household Budget App

I am just a Japanese Proton user, and please forgive me for using multiple translation sites.Let's Build a Privacy-First home Budgeting App

Your income, expenses, and purchase history are among your most sensitive personal data—they reveal everything about your life. Yet most budgeting apps store this data in the cloud, analyze it, and sometimes share it with third parties. Data breaches, advertising exploitation, government and corporate surveillance—are you truly protected from these threats?

    What we need:

    • End-to-end encryption — designed so even developers can't read your data
    • Local-first data storage — kept only on your device
    • Zero tracking — no…

  4. Make all apps able to update themselves independently of app stores

Similar to what Signal does, it would be great to be able to install apps from the proton website, then update them from the app itself, without having to use the app store. This would reduce dependencies on App Stores that are run in (and potentially influenced by) authoritarian governments. Not having to trust Google Play or the Apple iStore (or whatever it's called) would be wonderful for those of us living under newly authoritarian governments, or anyone outside that country using those app stores.

  5. Allow to test recovery phrase

I suggest that users can test if they saved the recovery phrase correctly. (Currently, the only option is to create a new phrase.)

Two cases where this might be helpful come to my mind:

    • To check if a recovery phrase written down years ago is still the correct one. (I write recovery phrases on a paper and then usually never need them. After some years it is easily possible that paper notes get mixed up or that one is not sure about a certain character)
    • To test the written down phrase immediately after creating and writing down a new one.…

  6. Proton QR Code Generator

I have been researching QR code generators. What I have been looking for is a bit "anti Proton philosophy", but this is exactly why this might be an idea for you.

It would be nice to have a QR code generator service that allows for some simple analytics which do NOT break privacy (if that's even possible). Of course, it must be based on a zero knowledge structure so that even Proton can't access the data.
In short: It would be cool to have analytics without sacrificing privacy (again, if technically possible).

Maybe Proton can pull this off with all…

  7. ProTube

Please, don't resort to YouTube for your visual content! The company has already demonstrated its complicity with American fascism by its recent settlement payout to the U.S. government. We desperately need vlogging alternatives specifically engineered to support free public discourse which cannot be undermined or compromised by bad actors.

  8. Option to set default language model in Lumo

    Introduction**

As a user of Lumo, I’ve found the AI assistant to be incredibly helpful and versatile. However, one feature that could significantly enhance the user experience is the ability to choose and set a default language model. Currently, Lumo automatically selects the most suitable model for each task, which is efficient but lacks personalization. By adding the option to choose a preferred model or set a default, users can tailor their experience to better suit their needs and preferences.

    Why This Feature Matters:

    1. Personalization: Different users have varying preferences and requirements. Some may prefer a model that excels in…

  9. [Proton Meet] Dedicated Proton Meet Category on the UserVoice Platform

It would be very helpful to have a dedicated category for Proton Meet on the service/feedback platform, even while it is still in closed beta.

At the moment, Proton Meet feature requests have to be posted in the general category, which makes them harder to find, track, and discuss. A separate category would improve visibility, feedback quality, and organization for both users and the Proton team.

  11. A Proton-made e2ee Notion-like application that integrates well with Lumo and other Proton products (calendar, email)

I enjoy using Proton's products and would be interested in a second-brain application that works well with other Proton products. Something students, hobbyists, and companies could use to store their ideas, create databases, and compile images/videos. It could be included in the already existing Proton-subscription or as a standalone product.

  12. Display/show disk/storage space usage details

Various apps likely shows a disk space usage, for example ProtonMail desktop app in the bottom-left corner. Clicking it, I would assume to see the details on where the disk space is used, so i can potentially delete some content.

User should be able to see the list of services and its disk space usage, click the service with high usage to see even more details, being able to realize what to delete/cleanup. For example if it is Mail, show the list of largest folders and its sizes. Clicking folder would open it.

  13. Lumo should have its own privacy policy

    Title.

All the other Proton product do (https://proton.me/legal/privacy). Privacy policies are obligatory in many jurisdictions.

Btw, in my eyes, the absence of this policy is a sign Proton is moving too fast with too little consideration given to important business decisions.

  14. Keyboard shortcuts in Proton Sheets

    Hello, Proton Team,

I know the keyboard shortcuts is a thing that Proton Docs already has, I believe this would be a great idea to have in Proton Sheets too, simply because it rises user's productivity, or says working speed.

And... if possible, I personally prefer Microsoft Excel's design. But maybe there are some more people prefer other services' design. I'm not sure. Maybe this could be discussing more or held a poll ? Anyway, even if don't take any reference from the existed app, it will be fine still, as long as the shortcut design is user-friendly.

    Sincerely,
    sia

  15. Windows: Open ics file should create the event automatically in Proton Calendar

It is not currently possible to set Proton Calendar as default calendar app on Windows.

An easy workaround would be to set Proton as the default app to open .ics file, so that double clicking on a downloaded ics file opens it in Proton Mail/Calendar and adds the event. At the moment the only way is top drag & drop the file on Proton Calendar, which is annoying when done from the web browser.

  16. Lumo for Business

    Hello,

Lumo is highly regarded for its encryption and user-friendliness. In order to meet the needs of teams, I propose the creation of a Lumo Business subscription including:

    1. Centralized user account management
    2. Multiple licenses with volume discounts
    3. Shared workspaces for team conversations
    4. Priority support dedicated to organizations

This offer would facilitate the adoption of Lumo in a professional context while maintaining Proton's security standards.

Thank you for considering this proposal.

  17. Music Player App, integrated with Proton Drive to consume online and offline media

A Music Player for the songs that are saved in Proton Drive, it would be nice if there was the option to display or not the songs that were made available offline in other applications, the same goes for the other Proton applications

  18. Messaging & Voice-Video Calling app

An alternative to (and combining the best of) WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, and MySudo - done the Proton way, part of the Proton ecosystem, with the Proton interface.

    • Likely based on the Signal platform
    • Offered as a separate plan or as part of the other package offerings
    • Does not require a phone number, but offers the option of Proton virtual numbers, and works with non-Proton virtual numbers
    • End-to-end encryption in peer-to-peer communications
    • Can call or message non-Proton numbers
    • Offers multiple profiles, each with unique phone numbers
    • Connects with others by Usernames or Handles or…

  19. Bulk actions for selected emails

I recently started looking for jobs quite heavily and got application confirmations on my account. I was able to filter for all of them, but there is not an action to bulk forward them to e.g. Gmail which has more functionality for processing mails automatically. I’d like to either forward them in bulk or copy all of the content to let it be processed by ChatGPT automatically, so it generates a table or csv file which I could add to my existing google sheets file where I keep track of applications. Bulk actions would be super useful now that LLMs…

  20. Allow Sub Labels

Today we can have sub folders, but it would be very handy to also be able to add Sub Labels. For example I can then have a main Lable called Inboxes. And then I can create a specific Lable for every email account I have.
