While this seems convenient, it is something I personally avoid for privacy. If you are attempting to protect your privacy you avoid all biometrics. If you are held by authorities and they hold the phone/laptop up to your face or force you to put a finger on the device to use your face or fingerprint to unlock your secured information, it really counters having Proton paid services. It also invalidates you being able to protect yourself and claim any kind of protections.

Two years later and they're finally working on biometrics: "Biometric unlock in browser: Unlock Proton Pass in your browser using your fingerprint or face ID. Biometric unlock is already available for all other platforms."

Unfortunately no word about unlocking with FIDO2 security keys. :(

Please add this, especially that AI powered search now misleading says it's possible, because it should ;)
While not a total dealbreaker for us, it does prevent to fully switch all users (and therefore more licences for you) as some are bent on using computer biometric unlock in browser since they got used to it. -

A quick and convenient method to unlock the extension, competitor products have this ability.

Biometrics would be great. The extensions for Bitwarden do have it, so it is possible.

This would definitely increase security of my basket of passwords.
+1 to additionally adding yubikey support to quickly unlocking the vault. -

Additionally, using a Yubikey would be another great alternative.

Very important to me as well. Typing the PIN is inherently insecure.

If proton pass adds fingerprint (windows Hello) support would make the extension so much more easy to use. instead of entering the pin, Using fingerprint will be quick and easy.

Please implement biometric unlock for firefox and chrome Proton Pass browsers extensions. This is keeping me from migrating to Proton Pass.

Agreed. I often question the usefulness of the desktop app if it didn't have the biometrics feature. Since Dashlane shut down its desktop version and went full browser extension, I wonder if Proton Pass will do the same thing.

This would be nearly as good as tying the login status to the desktop app, so you only have to lock or unlock once, and any browsers plus the app stay in sync (there is a separate request for that which I've voted for). But this would be enough to solve my main issue - that the PIN is enough of a hassle that I alternate between disabling and re-enabling it, which is obviously not ideal.

Visionary users here giving a +1 to this feature. Not setting security on the plugin a security risk, using a PIN is a huge hassle. Please support biometrics!

This is really needed to make Proton Pass useful and secure, What's the point of having a desktop app with biometrics when the browser opens with a PIN? Please move this from "under review" to "in progress!"

I think without this feature you are missing out on the entire customer base that owns a Mac

I genuinely need this feature. Entering my PIN in front of colleagues feels uncomfortable, especially when I’m trying to show them something. A recurring issue is that the Proton unlock popup doesn't always automatically get focus, so the PIN ends up being typed into the username field instead—where it's displayed in plain text. This makes the current PIN setup inconvenient and even risky at times, but removing it altogether would weaken security.

I won't be renewing my Proton Unlimited unless this is implemented. Seriously, is there a product manager behind this and what is he/she doing? I'm currently using 1Password on macOS and the experience is seamless. Comparing to 1P, Proton Pass feels like a half-baked product.

Making Biometric authentication available on the browser (Safari) extension same way as it is on the desktop app.

Absolutely mandatory for me to leave Bitwarden and continue with Proton Pass...
