Fully offline mode with cloud synced option
I would like to see Proton Pass have an option for a fully offline password manager toggle. During the initial setup, it should allow you to pick between Proton Pass servers, or a way to make an end to end encrypted password that would be used to store a copy of the vault's data on iCloud, Google Drive, and Dropbox etc. Then an option to make the password manager fully offline. If a user made the password manager work with online servers, there should be an option in settings to opt into the fully offline password manager. If a user opts into fully offline. Doing so would then delete the data on the server, but keep all local data on the device, then the user would then have the option to either turn on encrypted backups to iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox or re-enable Proton Pass servers.

Advanced threats require advanced defenses. Sophisticated adversaries like nation-state actors and private cyber-mercenaries, such as NSO Group, routinely compromise end-user devices to extract sensitive data directly at the source. This includes password vaults, regardless of how secure the cloud infrastructure may be.
That’s why Proton Pass must adopt a true Defense-in-Depth strategy; going beyond encryption-in-transit and at-rest to support Offline Vaults and Device Pinning. These features embody core security principles: Segregation of critical data, Zero Trust architecture, and control over data residency.
Not every user wants, or should be forced, to sync their entire password corpus to the cloud. For high-risk individuals journalists, dissidents, security professionals, executives, and privacy-conscious users, the ability to store some or all credentials locally, and bind vault access to specific trusted devices, is not a luxury but a necessity.
Proton has positioned itself as the gold standard in privacy and security. Implementing Offline Vaults and Device Pinning would be a powerful, practical step forward; giving users real sovereignty over their most sensitive data, and reflecting the threat models that increasingly define today’s reality

Now with the great push to save more than just passwords into Proton Pass, such as personal IDs and other documents, one critical feature missing is to allow the user to toggle "access attachment when offline" for specific vault items. For example, this could help those doing international travels who need to access their flight tickets, passports when offline.
Proton Drive offers this already (at least on Android), so it would be good to see this working in Proton Pass as well.

this is essential, please implement. passwords need to stay local for security reason.

+Feature: Vault Pinning - pin a vault to an explicit endpoint device. Once a vault is pinned to the device it would only be available at the pinned device (stored locally) - until sync option is enabled.

Made a similar request for Offline-Only Vaults at:
https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/953584-proton-pass/suggestions/49376381-offline-only-vaultsThis feature would allow users to create a vault that is stored exclusively on the endpoint device, independent of synced vaults or online logins. The feature could include optional functionality to re-enable syncing at a later time if needed, ensuring maximum flexibility.
Toggling this setting for existing synced vaults would remove all synced copies of the vault, leaving a single offline vault stored locally on the device where the option was toggled.

I would like to propose a feature for Offline-Only Vaults within Proton Pass, building on a previous suggestion discussed here:
https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/953584-proton-pass/suggestions/48232031-fully-offline-mode-with-cloud-synced-optionThis feature would allow users to create a vault that is stored exclusively on the endpoint device, independent of synced vaults or online logins. The feature could include optional functionality to re-enable syncing at a later time if needed, ensuring maximum flexibility.
Toggling this setting for existing synced vaults would remove all synced copies of the vault, leaving a single offline vault stored locally on the device where the option was toggled.

Seriously good idea here. Offline only option for some logins. Suggest making it a vault option, so some vaults can be local only, while others have the advantages of being online. All accessible through proton pass

Would love to see this. I self host a lot of stuff. I personally am using an airgapp'ed network, and VERY picky about what's accessible to the internet. A self hosted option is MUCH needed for my environment.

1Password takes a local first approach, which makes it usable when one has not internet connection.
It is currently very tedious to use Proton Pass in infrastructure dev environments because it requires constant internet access.
Make Proton Pass local first please, or give us an option to securely cash our passwords in a local vault.

Proton Pass should give the user the option to make the password manager fully offline. As in not syncing any data to any cloud database. Only using exports as a backup. This would give users who want a fully offline open source password manager an option. As, at the moment there are no open source password managers on the market that allow for the password manager to be fully offline.
So, please add a fully offline mode (no cloud syncing, fully on device storage).

I’m not comfortable, transferring from my old pastor manager to this one until I have off-line access to this information.

Seriously, who thought it was a good idea to have a password manager that does not work without an Internet connection? PLEASE make offline access a priority for mobile/extensions.

Also an option to use a self hosted server to backup
