1. Allow pass-cli item update values to be read securely from stdin

   Please add a secure stdin or template input mode to pass-cli item update.

   In Proton Pass CLI 2.2.3, updating an item requires values to be passed through
   arguments such as:

   pass-cli item update \
   --vault-name Production \
   --item-id ITEM_ID \
   --field "note=<sensitive value>"

   This places the sensitive value in the process argument list. Depending on the
   operating system and local tooling, it may be visible through process
   inspection, diagnostics, audit collection, or crash reports. Avoiding shell
   history does not eliminate this exposure.

   Item creation already supports secure template input through
   --from-template -. Please provide equivalent functionality for updates, for
   example:

   generate-update-template |
   pass-cli item update \
   --vault-name Production \
   --item-id ITEM_ID \
   --from-template -

   An alternative interface such as the following would also solve the problem:

   generate-secret |
   pass-cli item update \
   --vault-name Production \
   --item-id ITEM_ID \
   --field-from-stdin note

   Why replacing the item is not equivalent

   Automation can safely create a replacement item through stdin, but replacing an
   existing item:

   loses the stable item identity;
   breaks Proton Pass revision history for that item;
   requires external references to be updated transactionally;
   can leave duplicate or orphaned items after an interrupted operation.

   Secure in-place updates are especially useful for password and API-token
   rotation, infrastructure automation, and headless workflows.

   Suggested acceptance criteria

   Update one or more fields without placing their values in argv.
   Accept input from stdin, with a file option if appropriate.
   Preserve the existing item ID and Proton Pass revision history.
   Support the existing --vault-name, --share-id, --item-id, and
   --item-title selectors.
   Do not echo secret input in normal output or errors.
   Return a nonzero exit code without partially updating the item when input is
   invalid.
   Document the secure automation pattern alongside item create
--from-template -.

   This would make the CLI's update workflow consistent with its existing secure
   creation workflow and allow automated secret rotation without accepting process
   argument exposure.

2. favorite logins at the top

   For example, I have 5 Google logins, so the one I've favorited will always be on top when the password fill pop-up comes up on the browser. Favorite mark should also show on the Proton Pass Win app

3. Alternative Identity / Identity Protection for Proton Pass

   I’d love to see Proton Pass add an “Alternative Identity” or “Identity Protection” feature for low-risk online activities.
   Each identity could include a generated name/profile, masked email address, masked phone number, optional virtual payment card, and controls to disable, replace, rotate, or delete the identity.
   The goal would be to reduce spam, tracking, data-broker profiling, and exposure from data breaches by avoiding reuse of real personal information across websites.
   This should be strictly privacy-focused, not a way to create fake legal identities. It should not be intended for banking, credit applications, government services, KYC/identity verification, fraud, or bypassing security checks.
   Generated addresses should also not be used for physical deliveries. If Proton ever adds shipping privacy, legitimate solutions such as mail-forwarding addresses, parcel lockers, or pickup locations would be much better.
   I think this would be a natural extension of Proton Pass and its existing email alias functionality.

4. Be able to clear "recent" items

   Proton Pass automatically lists your logins/items by most recently used/autofilled. While it is helpful, it would also be nice to be able to clear the recent items, like you can clear your recent searches, for example.

5. Create a separate view for pinned favorite items

   It is possible to pin favourite items. However, the pinned objects are difficult to identify visually. Depending on the screen size, only 3 to 6 pinned objects are displayed at a time. As a result, the implemented solution with the pin functionality is of limited practical use.

   A dedicated view is required, in which all favourites are displayed in the 'standard' default view.

    I would like to request the ability to add additional fields to login entries.

    Currently, login items primarily include:

    1.Email/Username
    2.Password

    Some websites require a phone number in addition to the username/email and password for login. It would be helpful if users could add extra fields, such as:

    3.Phone Number (or anything else user needs)
    4.Membership ID

    Ideally, users could also create other custom fields when needed.

    This would allow all login-related information to be stored in a structured way within a single login entry, rather than relying on notes.

    2. Complete the Proton account 2FA.
    3. Enter the additional Proton Pass password.
    4. Enter a separate 2FA verification code required to unlock Proton Pass.

    This would provide an additional security boundary specifically for Proton Pass, since it contains extremely sensitive information such as passwords, authentication codes, credit cards, and secure notes.

    I think this should be an optional advanced security setting, because some users may prefer convenience while others may want maximum protection for their password vault.

    The goal would be to ensure that compromising the Proton account and even obtaining the additional Proton Pass password would still not be enough to access the contents of Proton Pass without the separate second factor.

12. Proton Pass Support for Creditcard Renewalls

    As a frequent user of paying recurrent charges on the net, I save my creditcard details on services where I subscribe to recurrent charges such as Proton. Whenever one of the Credit- Debitcards I use is renewed because of loss, expire or theft/fraud I struggle to remember where that particular card was used, in order to avoid loss of service or addtional charge fees.

    It could be nice if Proton somehow could assist me in renewing my creditcard information on the sites where I have save my card details to pay for recurrent services - ie. linking a sit to a payment method, so I could pull a list of all sites I need to update for a given card.

    I tried adding a comment to this existing thread ("Single Linux yum repo for all Proton apps

    Installing pass-cli via a downloaded bash script is not optimal, and feels very insecure. Instead, people on Linux distributions should be able to use their platform's package manager to install it.

    For example, it would be great to have a single yum repository for all Fedora-based proton products, so that I could just do "sudo dnf install pass-cli" (to install pass-cli specifically), or "sudo dnf update" to update everything easily. Instead, only proton-vpn has a yum repo, and everything else was a manual rpm download + install.

    But now here comes pass-cli, which makes me install via a remote bash script. :(

14. Proton Physical Security Key

    I never understood why this is not for sale. Like for real. 100% privacy? this is much needed.

    And just to be clear, the title and all are misleading because what i actually want to suggest is a bit more.

    Let's say i have a pc, i start Proton VPN, and it works no issue since the physical key is inserted. But then i want to use this on a different device, well all i need to do is unplug it, put it in another pc, open proton apps, and well, i don't need to write my password. Not for drive, not for email, not for pass, not for vpn, and i am logged in.

    Also please be aware that i am not suggesting this for convenience but for security reasons

    bonus info: you need at leas 2 of them since each is the single in the world. And if you lose, damage, corrupt, break, gets stolen, you can't access your account, at all. Done. Can't be undone. it's gone. So this is why one is the one you actually use and one that while you register (so it can be used to unlock), it is placed somewhere safe where no one can touch it....???

    the other bonus info, the idea of such keys is that they are physically inside, i understand it's like a silicon or something that gets read so it's not a password or otherwise that can be take or stolen.

    LAST BONUS!!! Use this keys for a proton account that you don't use for anything other then to take control of you main proton account. Meaning that even if someone steals you physical key, and wants to use it to get access to your main account, it will not work since that key is actually for the master account and, even if someone (room mates, flat mates, house mates, friend, work collage, guest, family, hidden cameras as sadly this is getting worse and worse, so on), see you putting in the usb, that is actually just you faking it. Why faking it? so that they have the impression they can't touch your account without that key so they will not annoy you about it since the key is to special to just borrow <- as a reminder, I am not talking about people who you can trust, but the type who want to know more then you permitted them.

    EDIT: sorry for the rand. I am annoyed beyond words how many people want other people's data to scam, sell, or otherwise. And i though me writing like how i wrote it's better then me talking about criminal organisations, ai, and other stuff that are actually worse then what i wrote.

16. Quicker password access for Desktop Apps

    I believe having a way for Pass to see open apps and recommend passwords for desktop apps may be beneficial. I'm sure this is very involved, but it would be a drastic improvement to the UI. For example, for me to open Spotify, OpenEvidence, Work applications, and be able to click the tray icon for pass to autofill the account sign in after I select which app I am opening.

    This of course would benefit from having a tray icon (as with the VPN) that sits in the notification tray to increase efficiency.

17. Full auto-logout after user-specified duration

    The master password and 2FA method are used far too rarely to access Proton Pass.

    Currently, you can set up a PIN or biometrics to access your Proton vault seemingly indefinitely. I believe this can make it harder to remember your master password, or spot issues with your 2FA method. I also believe this is a security risk for any devices that are left unattended for an extended time; a 6-digit code is more easily leaked than a strong master password!

    I would like for Proton Pass to implement a feature in which the user can – but doesn't have to – specify a duration (like a week or a month), after which the current device is automatically logged out.

18. In Proton Pass add "add section" for all types of entries (not just identities).

    Being able to add sections allow to store e.g. a second password, several serial numbers, several IBAN number etc. that belongs to an entry. This can be relevant for a login where a second password. is necessary. or a login associated to a bank account and a mobile account, where I don't have a separate entry but I want to keep things together.

    Organizing the information in sections makes this really easy to grasp (UX, overview) and also possible to collect different types of information about one thing (multi-usefulness).

    Interestingly enough 'add section' already exists with the "Identity" type of entry, but not for other entries. Quite odd, but that means it would be really easy to add for the Proton Developpers. The functionality exists, it just needs to be expanded to other entries.

    In 1Password all types of entries are able to add sections. When bringing them over into Proton Pass, some sections disappear (which is really annoying because sometimes the section title is relevant for the text or hidden entry that follows). So this is another useful use case for sections: happy migration.

20. Device/Client-Specific Vaults

    I did find similar requests, some of them requiring entire re-writes, other not quite what I mean, so at the risk of getting lost in the masses...

    I would like to be able to restrict access to certain Vaults to specific devices or clients. For example, if I add credit cards, SSH keys or much of the other "sensitive" data, I want those to be accessible to the Pass App on my computer(s) but not on my phones or possibly even my browsers (I'm too privacy-minded to use autofill of my personal or financial data). Each device/client has its own level of physical and digital security and I just don't feel comfortable knowing that somebody could have access to certain Vaults from my phone

    As an optional extension to this, you could also create an option to disable offline access for a device/client from a central location.

    I think you already have a way to uniquely identify the different clients accessing the account so my best guess is it would not require an overhaul. It certainly seems an easier-to-implement solution compared to the many request to add vault-specific login requirements (not saying those are not valid request, only they might be more complicated to implement).

    So, basically, be able to label/identify the different Pass clients from within the Proton (Pass or Account) Settings, then on the Edit Vault screen link specific Vaults to specific clients. For backwards compatibility, if no device is specifically linked, the Vault is visible/accessible to all Pass clients.
