I won't be renewing my Proton Unlimited unless this is implemented. Seriously, is there a product manager behind this and what is he/she doing? I'm currently using 1Password on macOS and the experience is seamless. Comparing to 1P, Proton Pass feels like a half-baked product.

Absolutely mandatory for me to leave Bitwarden and continue with Proton Pass...

What I actually want is to unlock my desktop Linux browser extension via biometrics on my Android phone, which I think should be doable using FIDO2.
Seeing that I can't find an answer from Proton other than being classified as "under review" for a year, and biometrics unlocking isn't available even on the same computer, I guess I shouldn't hold my breath.
And it's probably faster to type a PIN than to unlock the phone via fingerprint, confirm that you want to unlock the desktop, then use the fingerprint to authorize the desktop unlocking, but using a PIN has the disadvantage that you can be compelled to reveal it or have it disclosed in some way.
I don't need this unlocking often enough to be a huge annoyance, but still it's a bit of a letdown, especially as I pay the 120€ per year for the whole suite.

Since 2023 and 985 votes and STILL UNDERREVIEW? How many more votes do you guys need to implement this?

Yes totally this feature is critical.
Synology C2 has this function and its great.
Maybe not enforced fingerprint but at least FIDO 2 where someone has to at least touch his physical key or higher like fingerprint.
But i have only Yubikeys without fingerprint which add enough security for the average user. -

Add support for FIDO2 to unlock extensions / apps. Biometrics on windows is nice but I would prefer to be able to unlock it trough my hardware key.

It would be great to need fingerprint before autocompletion or access to proton pass on web browser. Actually, it would be great for all proton web browser app !
Thanks a lot,
See you -

It is unbelievable that the desktop app is secured by pin, password or fingerprint, but the browser extension can be opened just like that and all data can be viewed.
I am of the same opinion as afon:
The browser extension should merely used to trigger the desktop app and autofill content, while all operations are handled within the desktop app.
It ensures that the data on the local computer is stored in a single location, rather than having one copy in the desktop app and another in the extension (even if it’s encrypted). This also results in faster response times. -

WOW, Proton did it again. Offering something that does not make any sense whatsoever. People asked for biometric on desktop app thinking it would be used as biometric authentication for the browser extension similar to what 1Password did. Then Proton enabled biometric on Windows app, but it acts as standalone and has nothing do with the browser extension... so what is the point of having biometric in the desktop app if browser extension couldn't take advantage of it and stays unlocked all the time??

If I leave browser extension unlocked as per Proton suggested, then why does the desktop app needs biometric option???

This is the only thing stopping me from switching fully from 1password, and the main reason I can't switch the rest of my family over.

Every other password manager has this, this is important for me but critical for UX in a time where passcodes and passwords are getting more and more replaced by better alternatives.
