Direct chat with one or more participants

Given Proton's emphasis on privacy, I can't understand why Meet does not offer a 1:1 direct message meeting chat option. There is, of course, the need for meeting participants to share confidential information on a need-to-know basis in an environment where not everyone present needs to know. Not possible within the Meet platform -- such a communication would have to go by email or a messaging app, which may not be seen in a timely manner, particularly if the recipient of such a message was sharing his/her screen and can't open email privately.
Further, With the tele-work takeover and the normalization of the multi-location single-team, there are many circumstances where co-workers in a meeting with a larger audience need to backchannel basic meeting mechanics and information between and among themselves during the meeting -- eg to jump ahead to backup slide x in order to answer an audience question, to prompt a colleague to correct an error in his/her oral presentation, to inform one's colleagues of one's immediate exit from meeting due to building evacuation -- just like they would do by passing notes and whispering in each other's ears if they were sitting at a conference room table.

If possible I beg of you to create full chat functionality to rival what we had with like Skype or Discord. My friends and I like to roleplay and write together but we don't want our stuff to be used to train AI. Please also let us have multiple chats available even between the same two people. Ex: skype let us have multiple stories going at once but teams only let's you have one group between you and a person so we can't rp there (aside from privacy reasons) because we cant separate out our plots.
