    You have left! (?) (thinking…)
How important is this to you?

I think I'd suggest this request be tweaked to say: let me have the choice to subscribe to notifications for specific threads. I really don't want any notifications unless I long-press on a thread (or click) and say, "send me notifications." Email is, by its nature, a more thoughtful communication tool. A text message (should be) a quick information exchange.

Replying to an email generally requires more attention and thought than on-the-go, from-your-phone, whimsical typing. So, an instant notification that I have a new email right now generally isn't very useful. I use email; I know I need to check my email—later, when I have time and attention to give to it.

Notes on an email—a note-to-self or "sticky note" concept—would be really useful. It's that quick bit of info you can surface into view to:
    - keep you from needing to looking into the email itself,
    - jotting down that important related thought that the email doesn't include,
    - gives you better control of the information in your inbox.
