Filter notifications
It would be nice to be able to turn off/on notifications for various emails. Probably the simplest solution would be to add one additional action for a filter next to Apply Lebels
, Move To
, Mark As
we could also have Notify
.
This would be very handy for some notification from busy mailing lists, where one would only want to get a notification when an email is directly addressed to you, or in a response to your email.

I would really love this feature. I dislike being pinged for a newsletter or my daily news. I only keep my notifications on for important emails like job applications, security alerts and two-way conversations/replies. But then I also want to know which emails i haven't read when going onto my email, so the custom filters wouldn't help. Right now macrodroid (automated, custom scripts) or some notification manager is my only option, I would need to filter out client side. Also I don't have sender information in my notifications for security, so I would have to filter by subject and start of email body.

Voting for this because I want to have notifications only for my VIP contacts.

I would really like to be able to have all of my emails in my inbox, but be able to silence my SimpleLogin emails and leave them unread using a sieve script.

To expand on this, it would be amazing to have "modes" of notification filtering.
For example, during the weekends and evenings I want to be able to ignore emails related to work, or suspend them from my inbox until work resumes. This would be particularly useful for working in an international team where not everyone logs on/off at the same time.
During work hours, it would be great if I could suspend all mail unrelated to work to avoid distraction.

I'm a new protonmail user and came looking for this feature! I would love to see it.
Protonmail is great but my biggest annoyance in replacing my gmail with protonmail is that my gmail folders didn't send me push notifications. All incoming emails, even if they're not going to my inbox send me push notifications.
Being able to customize notifications and turn off most of them except specific ones, like other users have suggested here, would be a great feature!

I totally would love this feature. I receive a large amount of low priority emails including some of these things you subscribe because it's of interest. I don't necessarily want to unsubscribe but the push notification are completely unnecessary for these type of emails and frankly annoying and causing distraction. The issue is I still want to be notified for other important email so I'm torn between completely turn off the feature or leaving the feature. I have attempted to create filters and even a second email address with filters but any email still trigger the push notifications despite filters to sort these emails in a particular folder. Please this is really needed.

I have set up some filters to group e-mail from senders into folders. I want to keep unread status so I can see the number of new e-mails in each folder, but I don't want to get notification on my phone. There should be an option on filter to mute/silence notification.

You can turn off notifications for folders in a webapp and it affects the mobile app, too.

On Android, email notifications alert when any new mail is received into any folder/filter. I'd like a feature where it would alert only if an email makes its way into the inbox (I don't want to be notified for all filtered mail).

I think I'd suggest this request be tweaked to say: let me have the choice to subscribe to notifications for specific threads. I really don't want any notifications unless I long-press on a thread (or click) and say, "send me notifications." Email is, by its nature, a more thoughtful communication tool. A text message (should be) a quick information exchange.
Replying to an email generally requires more attention and thought than on-the-go, from-your-phone, whimsical typing. So, an instant notification that I have a new email right now generally isn't very useful. I use email; I know I need to check my email—later, when I have time and attention to give to it.

it would be great to have the ability to "not notify" some emails if they are in use by a filter.
for example, all messages from "junk@junk.com" skip the inbox and go to my "never read" folder. how about a checkbox in the filter setting to "don't push desktop notification on these messages"

This could be combined with feature request "Email notification (to external email address) "

That also applies (custom domains) to notifications on your mobile device when you get notification from your email address that is secondary email or some notification email that doesn't have to be frequently checked.
If you have like 5 email address you'll get pretty busy mobile screen.

This would be great. A single checkbox that says "No Notification" on a filter would let us create filters that prevent phones/watches/browsers from alerting us about the kinds of mail that can wait.
