Although ProtonMail's encryption makes it inaccessible to IMAP clients, would it be possible to open ProtonMail up to 3rd parties that could support its encryption methods? I imagine that mobile clients like Airmail and Spark wouldn't mind adding special support for ProtonMail if it's possible for them.
The ProtonMail mobile app lacks a lot of modern features, and the fact that the service is locked into that app is a huge drawback. I'm sure the ProtonMail team is busy with many other priorities, so why not let 3rd parties step in?
