I'm in the exact same boat. However multiple inboxes isn't necessarily the request here, that is just what gmail calls it. The main idea is ability to have multiple "panes" for showing folders or labeled emails that are no longer in the inbox.
E.G. moving and email to a "todo" folder to get it out of the inbox but still be able to see it on the main screen without having to navigate to the "todo" folder.
This is also the main issue preventing me from fully moving over from gmail to proton.
