I would really love to see it implemented. With how Android Kill Switch works when enabled you can sort of use ProtonVPN with Normal Split Tunneling mode like a basic firewall.
With normal split tunneling mode and all apps added in - no app has access to the internet. If you remove an app from that list - it does. Which is near perfect as it combines VPN and a Firewall in one app.
But it sucks that Split Tunneling list isnt saved per profile.
