    there is currently NO direct .dmg download link for Proton Authenticator on macOS

    Upon visiting the official download page (proton.me/authenticator/download), the macOS option redirects you to the Apple App Store. Unlike Proton VPN, Proton Mail, or Proton Pass... (which all offer direct .dmg files).

    Can you explain why Proton has released the Authenticator for Mac exclusively through the App Store.

    There are many of us who use Apple products but who do not use icloud, so this exception to your usual policy prevents us from using Proton Authenticator.. At the moment I use Authy, but would like to use Proton Authenticator.

    ps. I did contact proton support about this, but the representative couldn't understand the point I was making so I gave up.... and here I am some time later.
