Attachments really start to eat into your space limit when they are added to email chains that have multiple people replying to all. So, for example, if your brother attaches a video of his kid's birthday party and sends it to a large email distribution, everyone who replies-all adds another copy of that video to your inbox. this can quickly add up, and their is no way to delete to duplicate videos without deleting the whole email chain.
This special case could also be fixed by only storing one copy of each attachment per email chain (You could use a hash to determine this).
