Proton Search Engine
Instead of using Google Chrome, Edge, or Opera. If you create your own web browser and Search Engine it would lead to better privacy and ease of mind for those against Big Corporations

We already have DuckDuckGo and Brave search as the main two privacy-focused search engines.

Could Proton afford to acquire/merge with DuckDuckGo or Kagi?

I’d love if you guys just bought something like Kagi. It would save me from having to subscribe to multiple privacy focused things.

I agree for a browser, but as a search engine, Qwant already exists, and Proton is actually a partner with them.

Until Proton creates a search engine, I use hardened Firefox and a VPN & Quad 9. Hopefully Protons search engine will have multiple levels of security built in.

There are already a few private search engines, such as Brave, DuckDuckGo, and Startpage

I've switched from DuckDuckGo to Kagi, which has been incredible. It was 50/50 whether I would need to use the !g bang when using DDG. I have not used it once since switching to Kagi.
+3 from me from a Proton made search engine — I'm already paying for another.

I 100% agree on that, but for now I am using duckduckgo.com instead of Google.com for all my SearchQueries.

We already have a privacy browser & search called Brave. I'd rather see Proton build a Doc & Spreadsheet application.

Guys, this is absolutly not doable. Developing an efficient search engine is mush harder than you seems to believe. Actually, believe it or not, but the fact that Google collects data makes it very effecient to provides pertinent search results.

Use Brave for daily run. And TOr for sketchy stuff

I dont think we need a new web browser, nor do I think Proton is correctly positioned to build one.
The best thing they could do is support Firefox development, as that provides the best alternative to big tech. Sure, I guess they could fork FF too.

Would absolutely support this.

Yeah, I think a simple and SECURE browser is needed. One that would be ideal for banking and financials. Strip it down to make it secure like a sandbox but remove all the ads, trackers, and plugins. Like an incognito browser on steroids. Multi-factor authentication, security keys, VPNs, etc...
