API/IMAP integrations for third party security solutions
If Proton is looking to create a sovereign EU platform for businesses, then Proton will need to expand its access to third parties to meet security and compliance requirements for businesses.
An API integration that would allow companies to perform as examples DLP, Email Security, process GDPR requests, etc are needed to meet the lofty and admirable goal of making Proton the EU's sovereign digital infrastructure to replace Google and M365. If Protong wants toensure the safety and security of EU's technology stack, this will be needed for feature parity to the US leaders in the space.

Keep contact icon through SimpleLogin
Hello,
I apologize if this idea has already been submitted, I searched but found nothing.
I'm using Proton Pass/SimpleLogin to create aliases for every account I have. Since emails sent to aliases are proxied through SimpleLogin we are actually receiving the email from SimpleLogin and not from the original sender. That's the expected behavior of course, but my point is that no contact icon is showed because of that. For example instead of having Amazon favicon for Amazon emails I have "AA".
My suggestion is to display the brand icon based on the original sender to still have icons even when we are using aliases.
Thanks a lot!

Let LLM (proton scribe) summarize and pick out the most important emails from a single day
We all get lots of emails, and sometimes it's easy to miss the most important emails. So the suggestion is that you should be able to write a prompt that the LLM can follow, and then it should be able to wade through all emails for a given time range, and then point out which emails are MUST READS based on the prompt or otherwise give some sane summary of the emails that were received during that period.

Add "select all messages" option in a keyword filtered research in inbox
Hi
It is not possible to select all the messages after a keyword filtered research in root inbox.
For example:
I cannot delete all the messages containing the text "linkedin" because i can only select messages page per page and not all of them at once.
Do you understand ?
Thank you.

Customize Proton web mail client toolbar
Currently in the toolbar you can; mark unread, trash, move, label, and filter.
With an additional click you can; archive, move to spam, print, etc.
It would be nice to be able to customize that toolbar and maybe even add more icons, there is plenty of blank space in the bar to add several more icons.

Preserve Reverse Alias When Forwarding Your Own Sent Messages
When an email is sent via a reverse alias, forwarding that same message (e.g., to add a missed recipient) reveals the sender’s real Proton Mail address instead of the alias. Users must manually edit the forwarded message to hide their real address, which is easy to forget and defeats the privacy purpose of reverse aliases.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Create a reverse alias (e.g., alias@protonmail.com).
- Compose and send an email to Recipient A using that alias.
- Realize you omitted Recipient B and click Forward on the sent message.
- In the compose window, add Recipient B and send.
- The forwarded email’s From/Reply‑To header now shows your primary Proton Mail address, not the alias.
Expected Behavior:
When forwarding a message that you originally sent using a reverse alias, the forwarded email should automatically retain the alias in the From/Reply‑To fields, keeping your real address hidden without any extra effort.
Suggested Solution:- Automatic Alias Retention for Forwarded Sent Mail
- Detect that the message being forwarded originated from a reverse alias.
When the user forwards that message, pre‑populate the From and Reply‑To fields with the original alias.
Show a non‑intrusive indicator (e.g., “Forwarding using reverse alias”) so the user knows the alias is being used.
Optional User Preference (under Settings → Aliases → Forwarding)
“Preserve reverse alias when forwarding my own sent messages” (ON by default).Allow advanced users to disable the behavior if they intentionally want the real address shown.
Thank you in advance

When a group is selected, it should pull up all members of that group, not just those with email addresses
I have requested multiple times that you actually have a full fledged contact app rather than the contact setup that you currently have. Until that happens, I am trying to live with the contact software embedded in the mail app. I noticed adding names to groups is only helpful if there is an email address for the contact. I have setup a set of contractors for the location of my vacation home, and I do not have email addresses for all of the contacts. Then when I call up the group, only those contacts show up that have email addresses. That is very short sighted as many interactions are done via text and do not require email. So there is no way to get a group of contacts unless each group member has an email address. This needs to be fixed. Thank you.

Hide search keywords from address bar for privacy
When a user performs a search in Proton Mail the keywords appear in the address bar, this means the ISP has a log of all the keywords used when searching which is a potential privacy breach. Given that Proton Mail is privacy centered wouldn't it make more sense for the keywords to be posted over SSL using the POST method rather than including them in the address?

iOS shortcut for sending an email
It should be possible to automate proton email sending via iOS shortcuts app in the same way as it works for the Apple Mail app.
Example workflow:
1. Select Files — lets the user pick one or more files.
2. Send Email — prefilled like:
• Body text: “Hello, here’re my attachments:” and then an embedded File token (the file(s) selected above).
• Fields in the action header: with Subject and to Recipients (both are parameter “chips”).
• Extra fields shown:
• From: (optional)
• Cc: (email addresses)
• Bcc: (email addresses)
• A toggle: Show Compose Sheet (checked), meaning it will open the composer UI instead of silently sending.⸻
Feature requirements:
1) Shortcuts actions (must-have)
Action: “Send Email (via )”
• Inputs
• To (list of email addresses or contacts)
• Subject (text)
• Body (text; supports inserting variables/tokens from previous steps)
• Attachments (0..n files; accepts Shortcuts “File” type and multiple selection)
• Cc (list)
• Bcc (list)
• From Account (optional; select from configured accounts/aliases)
• Show Compose Sheet (boolean; default true to match screenshot)
• Behavior
• If Show Compose Sheet = true: open your app’s composer prefilled; user can edit and hit Send.
• If Show Compose Sheet = false: send silently in the background (or fail with a clear error if iOS disallows in that state).
• Outputs
• Result (success/failure)
• Message ID (if available)
• Error (human-readable + a code for automation handling)Action: “Compose Email” (optional but nice)
• Always opens composer, returns draft id.2) Attachment handling
• Accept multiple files from “Select Files” and attach all.
• Preserve file names + MIME types.
• Support common types: PDF, images, video, ZIP, text, Office docs.
• Handle large files:
• configurable limit + clear errors
• optional “upload link instead of attach” mode (if your app supports it)3) Recipient + address resolution
• Allow recipients from:
• raw emails
• Contacts
• lists passed in from earlier Shortcut steps
• Validate addresses; fail gracefully with which address is invalid.4) Account / identity selection
• From maps to:
• chosen mailbox (IMAP/SMTP account) or
• alias identity (Reply-To / Sender if supported)
• If not provided: use default account.5) UX parity with Shortcuts “chips”
• Parameters must appear as editable token fields in Shortcuts (like “Subject”, “Recipients”, and the File token embedded in the body).
• Support variable insertion in body/subject (e.g., file name, date, clipboard text).6) Reliability + privacy
• Clear permission prompts (Contacts access only if needed).
• No sending until user explicitly allows silent sending (or require compose sheet).
• Don’t retain attachments beyond sending unless user opts in.
• Return deterministic errors so automations can branch (e.g., “NoAccountConfigured”, “Offline”, “AuthExpired”, “AttachmentTooLarge”).7) Platform implementation notes (so it actually works)
• Implement via App Intents (so actions show up in Shortcuts properly).
• Support running while locked where possible (otherwise explain limitation via error + suggest compose sheet). It should be possible to automate proton email sending via iOS shortcuts app in the same way as it works for the Apple Mail app.

Emergency Export via Mail app
A feature to mass export or forward currently decrypted emails from within the Proton Mail app would be extremely valuable—especially in scenarios where a user anticipates losing access to their encryption keys.
There are real situations where a user is still logged into their account (and emails are actively decrypted in-session), but they no longer have access to the correct passphrase required to decrypt their stored data after a reset. Once the account is reset, those emails become permanently inaccessible.
Providing an option—particularly for paid users—to bulk export or forward all currently decrypted emails before initiating an account reset would act as a critical safeguard against irreversible data loss.
This would not weaken encryption, as the data is already decrypted within the active session. Instead, it would give users a final opportunity to preserve their data while they still have legitimate access.
Even a limited-time “pre-reset export” flow or warning prompt with export tools could significantly improve user trust and reduce catastrophic data loss scenarios.

Improve contacts groups management
The overall experience on managing contacts on proton has become really bad.
You cannot create groups, meaning list of contacts, from csv, so if you make a contact list of 80 people for work, you have to add all them manually to a group. If you have multiple groups to create it quickly becomes a nightmare. If you send an email to a group, it does not save ?? So if you want to prove an email has been sent or reuse it, well you cannot, you either make screenshots or external records to proton, or you have nothing
.
I do not understant why business accounts have such limited options, but as someone on a visionnary account, I am thinking on leaving proton altogether because I no longer have the patience to do everything manually. Actually I have rarely create groups and used other platforms because of it.On top of that, managing the groups once it's created is really bad : it does not detect doubles, you cannot modify badly typed emails. There are no subgroups, and the contact window is extremely narrow instead of being a full page. It is neither accessible nor nice to use. Being stuck to do everything on a tiny portion of the screens make zero sense. And the worst part is that plenty of times, the tiny contacts button simply does not appear, and there are no other ways to open the tiny contact window. There a no links to contacts in the left panel or anywhere. In the mobile app it's completely at the bottom and limited. I do not understand.
So an email app makes it really difficult to reach and manages our contacts. I am starting to wonder what is the poin.. I just had a horrible time managing a group and I am weighting my options.
The contacts are so neglected that there are no "Proton Contacts" app.
Please consider changing the core of what is used in an emailing service.
