Add field to mark appointments as free, busy or tentative.
Calendar events/appointments need a field to mark the appointment as free, busy, or tentative. This is needed to support scheduling as free and tentative appointments will not block out availability times.

I recently implemented a public facing booking page and I realized that multi-day events don't show as busy on the calendar. I need this to block out vacation time. Sometimes I put events on my calendar that are reminders but I'm still available. This is really critical for the booking pages to be useful to me to be able to select when I'm actually busy or not.

this is super critical for the bookings feature. i only realized that there wasn't a free/busy when ppl were booking during days that i marked as out of office. this makes bookings unusable. and it's kinda ridiculous that this post was made in 2022 and still hasn't been attended to, especially before the bookings feature was introduced

This is really a critical feature … I hate that in order to make it “easier” to share stuff I need to rely on a google calendar or outlook. It seems like it should not be that complicated to implement. Already just 2 options “busy” or “free” would be enough I think for most people.

I need to share my private proton calendar to my work calendar to avoid getting booked when I have an event.

I am sharing my private proton calendar with my work calendar (status only) and every single event from my proton calendar is reported as "busy" to my work calendar.

Over 2 years since this post was added and you've STILL not added Busy/Free option?

RSVP own appointments would be really helpful

Yes, I don't know how this isn't a thing. I made an Event showing the school holidays (for example) in my Proton Calendar, so I am aware of when they are coming up... it made my availability during this entire time as Busy! I'm not, I want to use my Calendar, as a Calendar. Some Events are Busy, some are Free and some are Tentative... please let me choose!

I use Calendly to schedule my clients' coaching calls. And I (and others) are asking for Proton Calendar integration. And Calendly is considering it. HOWEVER, without Busy/Free (Available), this integration would not work. Not every event is Busy (the Proton Calendar default). Please add this so we can flee Google Calendar.

I also wonder how come that the imported tentative entry is displayed as such, but it's impossible to create a tentative entry from scratch.

This is a critical feature for me, as I use a booking page which consumes free/busy via ICS. People (well, my wife, mostly) frequently book multi-day appointments in my diary and I want to choose if they represent me being busy or not.

I would add that sometimes I need an item on the calendar that just establishes a condition that exists for a certain time period. For example, being on-call for a certain time period. I am not necessarily busy during that time, but I need to be able to see when that on-call period is in effect.
Also, in some cases a condition (like being on-call) might be an all-day period or it could be only between certain hours. Need the option to specify that.

essential item to be added - now makes simple reminders as daily events and blocks downstream

Seriously needed. A feature I use daily. Should also integrate with the device's Do Not Disturb feature when set to busy to avoid interruptions. Google calendar has been doing this for a very long time on Android devices.

This! 100% agree with the person who shared this idea. I can't believe more people haven't asked for it. Giving it all the votes I can. Hope others do too.
