Set as default calendar on mobile
Android doesn't allow me to set the default Calendar app to Proton Calendar, only the stock Calendar or Outlook
This has been introduced with the newest update on the Proton Calendar app for Android.
For those wondering about iOS: this isn't something we can support there right now. Apple doesn't allow setting a default calendar app or handling these types of links the same way (unlike email apps). We've looked into possible workarounds, but they would compromise the privacy guarantees we aim to provide, so we've chosen not to go that route. We've also asked Apple to open this up to apps like Proton Calendar and will keep pushing on it.
Thank you for understanding!

Proton Calendar must be able to be set as the default calendar.

This is important for apps that integrate with the Android calendar API. App categories like task managers (Google Tasks, TickTick, Taskito etc.) query the user calendar and add calendar events in-between the tasks.
Taskito does it in their daily timeline view.
Adding this possibility to the app would also enhance the user experience across apps in general.

I'm surprised this hasn't been implemented yet. I just scheduled a doctor appointment on my android phone and the medical app gives me an ics file with the appointment time. I open the ics file and it gives me the option to import on all calendar apps I have, except proton calendar. This is the main reason I'm not using the calendar service yet.

I was looking for that today to no avail. Alternatively, one or two other widgets to choose from would also be good
Das habe ich heute auch vergeblich gesucht. Alternativ ein oder 2 andere Widget zu Auswahl wäre auch schon mal gut

I regularly get cal invites with attached ics files from various other services. Mostly Google, but some Office 360 accounts as well. ProtonCalendar should register for these events directly from the ProtonMail message.

Add .ics file association option for the Android ProtonCalendar app.
E.g.: When tapping on an .ics file, choose to open with ProtonCalendar app, just like it is possible with Outlook. In the Web UI it is possible to import .ics files under "import calendar". Would be cool for an app to be associated with .ics files when trying to opening them (regardless of OS).
thanks in advance, I'm sure you're working on this already.

Totally agree. They open by default in the Google calendar app, and I can't seem to change the settings for so the proton mail app will open ICS files.

Having the Proton Calendar Android app register as a handler for .ics-files and importing them would be a huge productivity boost.
Right now, I can either import them via the web interface or create them manually, none of which suffice of the go.
