Separate mail and calendar into different apps
add a separate proton calendar icon to the Proton mail/calendar app, so you can directly open the calendar without opening the mail app.
for example the ms mail and calendar app is one app but it behaves as a mail and a separate calendar app.

Yes, I absolutely agree. I would like to check my calendar without opening the mail first. And I need the calendar side by side with the mail app when scheduling appointments. Thank you! Otherwise I am happy with the app.

Same for Ubuntu desktop app. I should be able to look at the calendar and email in 2 different windows side by side.
Please add this feature. Also I thing there is a proton app and holds all the proton apps in one windows, I believe I have it on one of my windows systems, but my main systems are Ubuntu so can we get this app for linux as well? -

I could see this being a nice option to have.
Having both in the same app reminds me of Microsoft Office. I can see how some might prefer this. But I would like the option to seperate them.

Many people are using a different email client. On macOS, with Proton Bridge i can use the default Apple Mail app, but I can't really use the default Apple Calendar app. This is a deal breaker. At the very least, if we don't get tabs, or two apps (and I can understand why it's not great to maintain two apps...) the app should remember to start in calendar mode, so i don't have to switch every time. Or let me specify in the preferences which app I want by default at startup.

The early Windows desktop application did this, but it lost that feature in an update. I'd like it back please.

The Proton desktop app combines Mail and Desktop. However, it's one OR the other.
When you need calendar info to write an email, or when you need info from an email to set up a calendar event, this can be pretty painful to use.
The best solution would be to be able to have several windows and/or tabs open. These could be the mail main window, a mail compose window, a single email content, the calendar main window, a single calendar event, or even the preferences and/or settings. As of now, having a single window feels like being trapped.

I agree it's important to be able to see the calendar while writing an email. Even switching between email and calendar should be one click only - currently it's two clicks in the Windows app.

If you're not going to create a separate app, at least give us the option to choose if we want mail, calendar, or both notifications on the desktop. Right now, it's all or nothing. I don't like mail alerts, but calendar notifications are critical.

It is good to have the possibility to open both calendar and email at the same time in a different window so you can view them both at the same time so it is easier to copy something from an email in to the calendar.

This is still not possible, at least on the Mac.

No, as long as Proton are using Electron as their framework, one app is better. That's because the app framework has an extremely huge memory overhead - it already eats about 1GB of ram on my desktop. Having two of these bloated apps running would be too much.

Have hit this restriction numerous times, often you need to create a calendar event from information in an email, or vice-versa. Just need to be able to open them in two separate windows.

Instead of having the proton Mail app for windows to go in the Proton Calendar. It'll be very interesting to have two separated apps.
It will allow us to keep focus on the calendar instead of being distracted by our mails. -

Would be great because email is an unnecessary distraction or detour if you only want to go to the calendar.

I was unhappy to see the separate calendar app for Windows go away. I liked the utility of having them both open at the same outside of my browser

Perhaps you could meet this requirement by allowing multiple instances of the ProtonMail app to run at once. Then we could have mail & calendar both open.

Or...consider mail and calendar in separate tabs. In fact, it would be nice to have all proton apps on Mac available as tabs of one app. (include simple login too).

This would be the next option.

I think it would be better to have separate apps instead. Need this on Mac too.

Outlook supports this. It's a surprising limitation in Proton.
