Separate mail and calendar into different apps
add a separate proton calendar icon to the Proton mail/calendar app, so you can directly open the calendar without opening the mail app.
for example the ms mail and calendar app is one app but it behaves as a mail and a separate calendar app.

Assuming this is an ask for desktop/mac users. My Current workaround is to open the calendar via web https://account.proton.me/apps and use the mail app. but I agree it would be great to have the app separated same as mobile.

Separating the mail and calendar so I can see both on my screen at the same time is the requirement. How it is done is less important.
That said ultimately having off-line apps on my PC and my phone is the real goal. Recently whilst travelling in areas with no coverage and very patchy wi-fi I could not access my calendar to check appointment dates and times. Vary inconvenient

I would like a separate calendar window, regardless if it's a separate app or a separate window.
I usually look at the calendar while reading or writing mail. Or add calendar entries based on information I've received in a mail I have open. So to be able view them both at the same time next to each other is an important feature for me.

Um, no it's the same app listed twice (ProtonMail-desktop.dmg)... Please check before replying. -

It is absolutely critical to separate these two apps on macOS! Right now, having them combined makes notifications unworkable: macOS only allows one style of notification per app — banners (which disappear and are easy to miss) or alerts (which stay on screen and must be cleared manually). Banners are fine for email but terrible for calendar events. I'm currently using these and I'm missing everything-it's like I don't even have a calendar at all. Alerts are essential for calendar events but very overwhelming for email. This is a deal breaker and makes the combined app impractical. Please fix this! Also in a multi-monitor world combined apps are just inconvenient. I often want to reference my calendar when composing an email. Clicking back and forth between the calendar and email tabs is not ideal.

Or if we could at least have two windows of the app and in one open mail and in another calendar.

We are a multi-family household and constantly have to review and update our calendars. We regularly have to check our calendars and update them to match the other household (yes, eventually we want to get onto a shared calendar for this, but that is another story. I have to workout how to use Proton in our household while the other household is probably not going to make the move until I can push them). It is very important that we can use a dedicated calendar app on any device to be able to review just our calendars. Having to open a mail app JUST to open our calendar is an extra step that is preventing us from completing our total migration to Proton. I would love to be able to take us off Google all-together, but the calendar is one major thing that is holding us back.

If Proton doesn't have plans in splitting the mail and the calendar I think that it will be great to create a shortcut to open the calendar first or even make a toggle in the app to open the calendar instead of the mail at start.

Hmmm... disappointing. This make it hard to plan out your day having to jump back and forth constantly. There's not even a way to see a small calendar of events.

I would rather prefer an extended version of the Bridge App, which would include connectors for calendars and contacts! That way, users could simply use Thunderbird or any other mail app for all their mailboxes, calendars and contacts. Even multiple windows.

Which app is this about? The mobile apps are already separate

I would love to be able to open both at once, ideally from separate shortcuts.

I am a bit p*ssed at myself for not noticing this before subscribing to an annual plan ... I also regularly need to have my mail and (full) calendar side-by-side for planning and follow-up. I suppose the interim solution would be to have the one open on the web (probably mail as it's functionality is still lagging behind in the app) and the other one open as the app. But Proton, please listen to your loyal customers and fix this soon!

Like many users of this wonderful service, I would like to request the option of not having to toggle between the calendar and email (sigh). As stated by others here, sometimes my email contains info I want to add to the calendar, or simply I need to look between the two and can do this if I have two open frames ... being able to access them simultaneously would be an advantage. Any news on if that is being considered?

Coming back to this feature, because it needs more support : being limited to a single window is very cumbersome. I'd like to have my calendar in one and my email in another. Otherwise I always have to go back and forth multiple times.

Agreed. Microsoft is not a good role model in this area.

I forgot I'd submitted this (a full year ago), so I searched and found it here. I REALLY hope this is on the roadmap. Sigh. There's another post about making two separate apps. I don't care which solution the Proton folks choose, as long as both mail & calendar can be open at the same time -- say, one on each monitor.

Very much agree with this! I have been looking for that since I got on to proton, which for many other features is an ideal replacement for google, but this is lacking indeed.

It would be very good to have a separate calendar app to separate calendar notifications from email. I use apple mail for emails and this way I have to have two apps installed for emails.
