Separate mail and calendar into different apps
add a separate proton calendar icon to the Proton mail/calendar app, so you can directly open the calendar without opening the mail app.
for example the ms mail and calendar app is one app but it behaves as a mail and a separate calendar app.

Which app is this about? The mobile apps are already separate

I would love to be able to open both at once, ideally from separate shortcuts.

I am a bit p*ssed at myself for not noticing this before subscribing to an annual plan ... I also regularly need to have my mail and (full) calendar side-by-side for planning and follow-up. I suppose the interim solution would be to have the one open on the web (probably mail as it's functionality is still lagging behind in the app) and the other one open as the app. But Proton, please listen to your loyal customers and fix this soon!

Like many users of this wonderful service, I would like to request the option of not having to toggle between the calendar and email (sigh). As stated by others here, sometimes my email contains info I want to add to the calendar, or simply I need to look between the two and can do this if I have two open frames ... being able to access them simultaneously would be an advantage. Any news on if that is being considered?
with thanks, M -

Coming back to this feature, because it needs more support : being limited to a single window is very cumbersome. I'd like to have my calendar in one and my email in another. Otherwise I always have to go back and forth multiple times.

Agreed. Microsoft is not a good role model in this area.

I forgot I'd submitted this (a full year ago), so I searched and found it here. I REALLY hope this is on the roadmap. Sigh. There's another post about making two separate apps. I don't care which solution the Proton folks choose, as long as both mail & calendar can be open at the same time -- say, one on each monitor.

Very much agree with this! I have been looking for that since I got on to proton, which for many other features is an ideal replacement for google, but this is lacking indeed.

It would be very good to have a separate calendar app to separate calendar notifications from email. I use apple mail for emails and this way I have to have two apps installed for emails.

It is very inconvenient having to open the Mail app when all I want to do is manage my calendar. The Mac Calendar and Mail app are seperated and that is a great plus. They can both be open on different screens at the same time. And I can open the app I need specifically. It's a bummer this is not the standard.

I don't need another mail client as I'm already using Thunderbird. However, I do need a separate Calendar app for a quick glance at it to check when my races are coming.
Or at least add an option to set which app (Mail or Calendar) is open by default when we run the app. -

Split Proton Mail and Calendar in desktop app, so we could have both open at same time

Why is this not a thing already?!!
I need to be able to get separate notifications (with customizable sounds, preferably), & I need to be able to quickly toggle from Mail to Calendar to reference.
As it is, I don't even register that I've received a notification for an event on my laptop, because it has the icon & behaves like an email notification! -

Yes, I absolutely agree. I would like to check my calendar without opening the mail first. And I need the calendar side by side with the mail app when scheduling appointments. Thank you! Otherwise I am happy with the app.

Same for Ubuntu desktop app. I should be able to look at the calendar and email in 2 different windows side by side.
Please add this feature. Also I thing there is a proton app and holds all the proton apps in one windows, I believe I have it on one of my windows systems, but my main systems are Ubuntu so can we get this app for linux as well? -

I could see this being a nice option to have.
Having both in the same app reminds me of Microsoft Office. I can see how some might prefer this. But I would like the option to seperate them.

Many people are using a different email client. On macOS, with Proton Bridge i can use the default Apple Mail app, but I can't really use the default Apple Calendar app. This is a deal breaker. At the very least, if we don't get tabs, or two apps (and I can understand why it's not great to maintain two apps...) the app should remember to start in calendar mode, so i don't have to switch every time. Or let me specify in the preferences which app I want by default at startup.

The early Windows desktop application did this, but it lost that feature in an update. I'd like it back please.

The Proton desktop app combines Mail and Desktop. However, it's one OR the other.
When you need calendar info to write an email, or when you need info from an email to set up a calendar event, this can be pretty painful to use.
The best solution would be to be able to have several windows and/or tabs open. These could be the mail main window, a mail compose window, a single email content, the calendar main window, a single calendar event, or even the preferences and/or settings. As of now, having a single window feels like being trapped.
