Proton Duo with shared email inbox
It would be nice if the members of a Duo had a shared email address and inbox. Most couples need at times to communicate jointly together as a couple, either socially or for household business.
It would be even better if a Duo also included a full joint account with all features so that there is equality in the way information is shared and used.

As a lot of people already telling that shared mailboxes are a must have for the Duo plan, just a reminder: "We need shared mailboxes for the Proton Duo Plan!!"

I'm a little surprised about this voting system. Other features were accepted/reviewed/planned/in progress, but some of them didn't even get 100 votes, and this feature, which would be extremely beneficial and which you would expect to see at least in Duo, is not being implemented. I also don't see any comments from the support team here. I think this is a real shame. Proton has great potential. But why is further development so slow? Could a supporter please comment on this? Without this, it just feels like a delaying tactic that deters customers rather than attracting them with cool features when such a default feature doesn't even exist.

A big disappointment me and my partner can’t have a shared mailbox. I assumed the Duo subscription is ment for couples… Please take this in account in future product development.

That last comment is exactly why I came to this post. This feature looks like it has been discussed for a bit. Seems like it missing with business as well. I dont know how you can get business customers without this feature. I wanted the other feature of Proton but I this feature is to important.

That's the most important problem for me. I joined Duo believing it was possible to get a shared mail address with my wife, but it's not possible. I think I'll go back to unlimited personal. Deep regrets!

For couples and families, a shared mailbox brings everyone together. It keeps conversations transparent, responsibilities shared, and important messages never lost — because staying connected matters.

A shared mailbox is an essential feature, especially for couples or families, as it allows everyone to access, organize, and respond to important messages from one central place — ensuring nothing gets missed and communication stays seamless.

As everyone say, we need to be able to have a least 1 shared mail adress.
This is a common feature on all other mailing tools and apps. and it is one of the best features.... -

Indispensable, en particulier en cas de décès, pour garder le contrôle sur les services communs (electricité, eau, téléphone, commerces).

This is critical! I have just signed up for a Duo account, and I am reconsidering it just for this feature! Couples need to be able to share and manage one same email address from both accounts!
This is a 0815 feature which is a default on every other mailsystem i know…

Really expected this to be a feature of duo; not sure if I will keep our subscription moving forward if this feature isn't added.

I expected it when I bought DUO.

I purchased Proton Duo hoping that it would provide a shared inbox, but learned after the fact that it does not. I'm trying to move away from having a Gmail account I share with my partner and move to Proton with them. I want both my partner and I to be able to have our own paid Proton account with all of the features, and then a joint account that we could both easily access and respond from.

I agree with other people here. That's should be a by default option. I just realise this wasn't possible and you need to do workarounds to make this possible. Too complicated.

Please just allow groups for Duo users. It should be easy for me to create an email address that routes to both users.

I tried using the SimpleLogin aliases but it does not work. In our case, both are using already SimpleLogin so we cannot use this approach.
There is not any workaround for this.

I want to echo so many below that this is a critical feature for Duo or Family plans. If this came as standard, I would sign up for Duo instantly.

So this can easily be accomplished with aliases. Simply add your partners email as one of the mailboxes in Simple login. They verify it and you can now add them to any alias you like.
