Stand alone contacts
I would like to have Proton Contacts as my default on our Android phones. I need to open Google contacts to make a call unless I port all my Proton contacts to Google. I'm don't wish to give Google my entire contacts list.

I tried using Proton contacts, but it is too detached from everything else. Therefore I migrated to Nextcloud for contacts and calendar, and using Proton purely for email. Unfortunately, Proton only does email well, and all other features are just barely there to pull users in.
I like how this is a request for WebDAV support in disguise. There is another request listed 3 years prior, but probably the use of jargon (such as WebDAV and LDAP) scared or confused people away.

I'm moving completely away from Google, and, yes, this one is critical. We need that stand-alone contacts app that can be used on mobile devices.

Another +1 for this request. Using Google for contacts is convenient for syncing them across Android devices but this does not really work well when on a desktop/laptop computer. Having the info of other people on Google is not really compliant with some privacy laws when push come to shove.
Having a Proton Contacts app that can be accessed by the phone and/or VoIP phone would improve privacy/data security.

Please make Contacts a separate app from Proton Mail so that I can access it directly from the Proton "Welcome" screen or app pull-down list. It's a waste of time to have to open Proton Mail in order to work solely with Contacts. Your consideration would be most appreciated.

Contacts are important to me, and important to maintain. It’s almost impossible to do well in the current interface. For a company, this is huge when contacts is where my workflow is centered. (Calendar and contacts!!)

I would really like to be able to access contacts in a stand alone app. First there is enough information to manage to justify having a dedicated interface. Second because I do not want to get distracted by email when I set out to do other tasks.

I am adding contacts to Proton in spite of the poor accessibility in the hope that you will add a stand-alone APP. As was mentioned elsewhere, contacts can contain critical INFO and the only way to protect is to use an encrypted business focused application that is expensive. If you included an ARCHIVE option to allow transfer of contacts for which you are not likely to need again but not ready to delete that would be great.

At least synchronization of contacts with my Mac contacts (like a bridge) would be handy. Having contacts in multiple places is not a good option, but I still need Apple's contacts for phone calls etc.

According to situation, I add new contacts ether on my android smartphone or my desktop. Now that I use Proton, I have to systematicaly add them on both. So ether a stand alone contacts (best) or a synchronisation of android contact with proton contacts.
It is so critical for me that I seriously think to move back to GMail and remain there until Proton has solved this problem (and thus waist all or part of my 24 month Proton plan) ..... -

Desperately need a contacts app for Proton. The current contacts methodology of a sidebar is completely impractical, especially when managing or finding a contact from a few thousand. Need to be able to sort and organize contacts with a decent interface. Just seems like a basic thing in a communications software service.

A stand-alone contacts app is essential to a privacy-based ecosystem. It's needed to interface with the phone and messaging apps that I use.

Agreed. I have no desire to post my Proton Contacts to Google just so that I can use Proton Contacts list on my Android phone. This has been in "planning" for years. It must be realised!!!
