Ability to Delete or Deactivate Original Account Email Address
For users that have been with Proton for a long time and created an [account username]@protonmail.com and/or [account user name]@pm.me email address, you are not allowed to delete or deactivate these addresses. Needs change over time and Proton has offered newer domains that many of us switched to, but we cannot delete or deactivate those original addresses in settings or by emailing customer service.you can delete or deactivate other aliases, but none that have your original user name before the @. This should be easy to do and we should not be required to keep these old addresses active. Please stop merging this idea with other ideas. There is currently no other submitted idea here that matches this user story or use case.

This is a practical suggestion for long-time Proton users who want better control over old email addresses. Clear options for managing inactive addresses would make account settings easier to organize, much like having straightforward information when planning dining choices. Hopefully Proton considers adding this flexibility in the future.

This is a very reasonable feature request, especially for long-time Proton users who no longer use their original email addresses. Having more control over old or unused addresses would make account management much cleaner and more convenient. I also agree that proper warnings and security checks should be included before allowing deletion. Overall, giving users more flexibility with their account settings would definitely improve the experience. I can understand why this feature is being requested. Many long-time users have changed how they use their Proton account over the years and may no longer want their original email address to remain active. Giving users the option to deactivate or permanently delete their primary alias—after appropriate security checks and clear warnings—would provide greater control over privacy and account management. As long as the process includes safeguards against accidental deletion and explains the consequences, it would be a valuable addition for users whose needs have evolved over time.

I support this idea. Users should have full control over the email addresses associated with their accounts, especially if they no longer use their original address. Having the option to deactivate or remove it would make account management much more flexible. While browsing online recently, I also came across some useful Promo Offers that might be helpful for anyone looking to save on meals. Hopefully Proton considers adding this feature.

Completely agree with this! As a long-time Proton user, this is one of the most frustrating limitations I've encountered. I switched to a newer Proton domain a while back, but my old @protonmail.com address is still sitting there with no way to remove or deactivate it. It clutters the inbox, creates confusion, and frankly, it feels like we're being forced to keep something we no longer need or want.
The fact that we can delete or deactivate other aliases but not the original username-based addresses makes no sense from a user experience standpoint. If privacy and user control are core values at Proton, then giving users the ability to manage ALL their addresses — including the original ones — should be a basic feature, not an afterthought.
This is a very specific and clear use case and should absolutely not be merged with other ideas. Please treat this as a standalone priority. Speaking of managing digital tools efficiently, I recently found https://kfcmenuu.co.za/ quite helpful for navigating account and menu-related decisions online.
Hope the Proton team addresses this soon! 🙏

This is a reasonable request. As people's online needs change over time, having more control over old accounts and addresses can make account management much simpler. Clear tools and easy-to-understand guides are always valuable when dealing with digital platforms, which is why I often look for resources like https://snaporbitlab.com that explain online features and settings in a straightforward way. Hopefully Proton considers adding more flexibility for long-term users.

Users deserve the flexibility to remove outdated email addresses as their needs evolve. A simple, clean management option would make the platform genuinely friendlier and less frustrating for everyone. I experience a similar situation with my business mail for Dubai rental services website ( https://haflarental.com/ )
