No default address or variable default address
Currently, we are required to have a default email address. I have multiple email addresses in my account and use them for different purposes. But, when I open an email it automatically puts the default email address. If that is not the address I want to use, I have to change it. The problem is that it is easy to forget to change it and then I end up sending the email from the wrong address. I propose 2 solutions.
- Allow the user to have no default email. This would require the user to always pick an address when composing an email and avoid accidentally using the default address.
- I have my email segregated into different folders. So, all the emails coming or going from a particular address are in a single folder. When I am in that folder and I hit reply, it goes from the email address already used in that email. But, when I click on compose a new email, my brain expects it to know that I am in a particular alias email, but it just uses the default. Allow a way to set different default addresses for different folders.
Thanks

This seems to be a no-brainer to me; I hate forgetting to change the sending address, so it should be automatic from the selected email folder.

This thing is so bad, that i'm considering creating a random numbers account like "653535425544545@protonmail.com" and make it a default sender account. This way if you forget to select a sender address, this dummy email will be used and your other important email accounts will not get compromised.

I've been asking for this fearture for years now. I don't understand why they keep ignoring this. It's so critical to ensure that the email is not being sent from the wrong address. It also doesn't seem to be that hard to implement. So devs, please make this happen. Thanks.

A few times I've accidentally sent an email without remembering to check and change my from address to the account I am using for that particular service/sender.
It would be good to have an option to force you to manually select a specific from address before letting the email send.
In short, the "default" email address would be blank if you enabled that option. When you draft an email, it won't send until you've selected which address you want to use.
This would (or could?) exclude replies where the email has come into a specific address. New emails only.

I joined just to make this suggestion.
If your default email is automatically selecting when composing, it is easy to accidentally send from the wrong email. If instead, no email is selected, you cannot forget to select your sending adding.
I would like an option for "no default" such that my send address is always empty and my message will never be sent unless I choose my address.
