Mail UI improvements: subject visibility, zoom, avatars in compact mode
I have a few UI requests related to Mail that would really improve usability:
Please show the email subject in the message header area where we see From / To / Date — at least as part of a collapsible section. Right now the subject isn’t visible there at all.
You might suggest switching layouts, but:
I like my current layout and don’t want to change it,
and even in Row layout, the subject is missing there too, which feels very odd.
Please add zoom controls for the email body. Some emails (for example from banks) are badly formatted, and the content either doesn’t fit or is hard to read. I understand the sender is at fault, but I’m the one suffering. Being able to zoom in/out would help a lot.
Please allow showing avatars in the message list even in Compact mode (as an optional toggle).
The regular mode wastes too much space for me, but Compact mode removes avatars entirely. I’d like to keep the compact layout while still seeing avatars.
All of these would make the Mail interface much more usable without forcing layout changes.
