Show number of unread mails on top level folder
I am filtering a lot of my incoming e-mail into (sub)folders. The number of unread mails are displayed in the folder the mail was moved into. My folders are nested (2 or 3 levels deep) into a top level folder. I mostly have a collapsed view of the top level folders. In that case I would like to see if there are unread mails in the collapsed folders.

I think there are 2 good solutions to this.
1. Example for reference:
Top Level Folder: Travel - 25After expanding to 2nd Level:
Top Level Folder: Travel - 10
2nd Level Folder: Airlines - 15After expanding to 3rd Level:
Top Level Folder: Travel - 2
2nd Level Folder: Airlines - 4
3rd Level Folder: Spirit - 3
Alaska - 8The numbers represent Unread Emails. Have the total number of all unread emails within the entire folder structure on the Top Level when collapsed. When you expand on the Top Level Folder then that number is adjusted to all visible folders while applying the same logic of a 2nd Level having a 3rd Level.
2. Example for reference:
The Top Level Folder show the following:
Folder: Medical - 3(19)The "3" shows how many unread emails in that specific folder and "19" unread in total nested within the 2nd Level and 3rd Level. The 2nd Level would also show the same as the Top Level if there is a 3rd Level within it.

What do you propose? Having the added number of unread email on the top folder?
Having the top folder bolded, like in gmail?
