Auto-Delete For Trash Folder

The mailbox is filling up when used several years. There should be an option to specify a retention policy per folder and per size to free up space. I am a visionary user.

Be able to have trash automatically deleted every so many days rather than having to do a manual delete.

How isn't this done yet. It has been on the roster for 4 years at least.

yes, i would like a feature to auto delete messages after they have been in the trash for more than 30 days or user defined number of days. Same for spam would also be nice.

I am trying to downgrade, and I have over 5000 messages just in one folder. I have to go through 50 at a ficking time - and then go over it all over in the trash. Clicking the 'Empty Trash' icon has always given me a red error, so it does not always work. It would be nice to have an automatic feature for the trash that you can set.

Add a setting to automatically delete spam from senders on the black list. If a sender has been black listed, there is no need for the email to ever show up in the spam folder as it is known to be bad. This feature can be enabled or disabled.

Please allow us to run a filter, or make a retention policy, which will automatically run and retain the last N days of emails, or the last N emails. This shold apply not just to folers we make, but to Sent Items, Trash, and Spam/Junk email. Sent, Trash, and Spam are the folders that grow the fastest.
I don't want to delete all items in these mail boxes, just the older ones.

Agreed. An automatic trash and spam delete on a rolling 30 day cycle is something even gmail does. I would really like to see proton mail do this as well. Maybe even allow a setting to adjust the days emails can be in spam or trash before deletion. A user could set it to 7 days, 30 days, whatever.

I would like to see this happen and to be exact:
- Automatic removal/deletion of spam and trash
- Choosing settings, like every 24h, weekly, monthly, quarterly, every 6 months or yearly (the latter 2 for trash specifically)Manual removal is very time consuming and you're very unlikely to want to retrieve trashed emails after a certain period. I think automatic deletion of spam is most convenient in shorter timeframes and deleted (or even sent) emails could be kept for a longer time.
All depending on personal preferences of course. I think it would be even better if you can choose exactly how you want it. Gmail only has a setting where Trash is being deleted after 30 days, it would be very nice to have flexible settings.

I have been considering upgrading from the free account but will not do so until this is implemented. As others have said, this is standard in most email accounts. Just do it.
I know there is an empty trash option but I only want to delete older messages and have to do this manually. Very time consuming. -

I was wondering what was making my mailbox so big! I've been with Protomail since it began and only just realized today that my Trash Folder does not auto-empty! ....Are you kidding me Protonmail?

In the iOS app this is actually implemented where you can choose to "Empty Folder". It would be nice to have the functionality in the webapp as well....

I'm amazed that such a basic feature has yet to be implemented in an email service. This needs to be implemented for the TRASH folder as well.

Does anyone from ProtonMail even looks at this stuff?
This has more than 400 votes, it seems pretty brain-dead to implement, and yet nothing is done. -
