Message threads should not include items in Trash
When I have put a message in the trash, I do not want to see it, and yet when I get another email from the same recipient, somehow, the message in trash is included and at the top there is a banner saying that the thread includes messages in trash.
Who thought this was a good idea? Just saying, I throw messages out for a reason, and that reason is not to see them again. At a minimum, adding a setting to omit deleted messages from a thread should be available.7 votes -
Modular "A La Carte" Pricing for Proton Mail Services
I am writing to suggest a more flexible subscription model for Proton Mail services.
Currently, the gap between individual "Plus" plans and the "Unlimited" tier is quite large. The Unlimited plan includes many features that I do not necessarily need, which makes the upgrade path feel inefficient for users with specific requirements.
I would like to propose a "Menu-style" or modular approach where users can add specific services to their existing plans at a discounted bundled rate.
For example, as a current Proton Pass Plus user ($2.99/mo), I would love the option to add Mail Plus ($3.99/mo) features for a…

Allow mail filter rules to supercede spam rules
Currently received emails still arrive in Spam, even if there is a rule to delete them. This results in a cluttered Spam box. And Spam is something you need to check every few days to see if important emails were miscategorized.
Add a checkbox to mail filter rule settings that says it supercedes spam priority to prevent this problem. Gmail correctly does the mail filter rule check BEFORE the spam check, so emails arrive in the right place always.

Snooze on App
I honestly have no idea why something as basic as a snokze feature is on the web version but not the app. The lack of standardization across platforms is, at this point, inexcusable. Snooze for all

Feature Request: Keep Selected Folders Available Offline
It would be very useful if Proton Mail allowed users to mark specific folders as always available offline. The app should automatically synchronize and maintain the latest version of all emails in that folder, including all attachments, so the complete folder contents are accessible without an internet connection.
A practical example would be traveling: before a stable internet connection is available, users could already access all important travel-related information such as booking confirmations, tickets, or reservations. This would also be valuable when users know they will be in a location without connectivity for a period of time. They could rely…

Feature Request: Respect DMARC "p=reject" Policy for Custom Domains
I'm writing to suggest an improvement to Proton Mail's handling of DMARC policies. Currently, when an incoming email fails DMARC validation for a domain with a p=reject policy, Proton Mail always delivers it to the Spam folder instead of rejecting it at the SMTP level.
While I understand this "soft" approach prevents legit mail loss due to misconfiguration (as permitted by RFC 7489 Section 6), it also diminishes the security value of a "Reject" policy for domain owners who want to strictly prevent spoofing.
Proposed Phased Implementation:
Phase 1 (Internal Custom Domains): Exclusively allow Proton Mail Custom Domain From Addresses…

Bulk import/export of sieve filters
As a power-user I have extensive Sieve scripts that are split up into domains of functionality so that it is easier to manage and so that I can run smaller pieces of the larger filter set against my existing mailbox if that is necessary without it needing to run the whole filter.
I also keep them in version control and have a suite of tests that I run against them when making changes. When I'm done with implementing something new it is really frustrating to have to go to each one individually, copy the contents and paste them into the…

Mark 'Spam' as read
Emails automatically filtered to Spam should be marked as read - not to distract from actual unread emails. Even better, it should be a user-selectable option.

Proton Pass autofills username and password - Mismatched input field labels
If we visit a website that hasn’t implemented password and username input fields correctly (with incorrect labels), Proton doesn’t offer autofill.
A button with autofill would be great; it would populate the first input field with the username and the second with the password.4 votes -
Create a mail client for Proton and other emails
I have a few email addresses in use for different purposes and contexts, some of them are more than a decade old, and I don’t think I can close them up completely.
For example, I have an email on a server of an NGO I am working for, alongside my personal gmail used for Google services and an old personal yahoo, and a couple addresses associated with some apps that I’ve authored.
I’d like to use some of them alongside Proton email addresses. Since I can’t add proton to Mail.app, I need another mail client where I can have my…3 votes -
Widget Monthly View
Currently an added benefit on that I see to the Google Calendar widget and Samsung Calendar, compared to the Proton Calendar, is an array of widget display options.
Currently, Proton Calendar only allows for an agenda-style view, which just lists in sequence what is going on. But it would be helpful to see your month at a glance without actually having to click into the app. Or, like the Samsung App, it gives you a month view and an agenda view side by side.
Giving users the ability to pick a style fits their use case will improve the number…

Useless for a desktop user - Can't be used offline
What a letdown when you discover that your desktop app is nothing more than a copy of your website. That you can't make it so that you can check your existing emails and calendar offline is so bad that I can't find words. Then you really should have clear information that your app is only a copy of your website and cannot be used offline.

Email Templates!
Sometimes I send dozens of emails that have the same text, only the recipient's name at the beginning changes. In thse cases, with good old Thunderbird I just create a template, open it, write the recipient's address, and send it. Swift and clean.
Proton doesn't have email templates. I'm lucky because I know of Thunderbird, but if I were just slightly less tech savvy that would be some stress you give me, Proton!
Note: Mailchimp and the like just don't feel privacy-oriented since they decided to block an account I used because the email was determine that it was encouraging…

Using a different signature for desktop and mobile
When sending emails from a phone, typos happen and brevity becomes a way of avoiding stress. From Thunderbird, I use these two limitations to give a dash of friendliness to my short emails, and add a line that say something like "This email was sent from a mobile device, sorry for brevity and tpyoes", with that final typo made on purpose.
But I can't do this because the signature is shared between desktop app and mobile phone.
I understand that this feature would take 2 months of programming, but hey, if enough people have the same idea maybe we can…

Quick import .ics-file
Quick import .ics-files in the app, now you need to go to settings to import an appointment. It would be easier to just make an add button with an import function.

Protonmail: Move "Labels" to be on top of "Categories" in the left side pane.
Many users use categories to archive emails and labels to tag emails for followup. Currently, one must scroll past all the categories before being able to see the labels. Providing an option for the user to place labels above categories would make protonmail more user friendly.

Make speed of applying filters to existing messages not PAINFULLY SLOW.
When creating or modifying a filter and selecting the option to apply the filter to existing messages, the user is met with "Message actions in progress. This may take a while." when viewing the target folder for an extendended lenght of time. Please figure out a way to improve the speed of this operation.
