Open the next email automatically after deleting or moving the first one
When I delete a message I want to go directly to the next email, instead of going to the inbox and then click the next email.
This feature is a simple one, but when you have to read a lot of emails it saves a lot of time.
It is available both in Gmail and Yahoo.
Thank you for your attention.
Work on this feature has started, beginning with iOS availability.

The system selector should auto highlight the next Email in the Inbox without first going back yet should not auto open the newly selected mail in a separate window-in-a-window (Row Layout) or the detail pane (Column Layout) unless the user chooses otherwise (configurable in a new Settings option).
This control is crucial particularly when using the Web version because there remains the risk of unwanted Emails landing in the Inbox which end up mistakenly being opened automatically e.g. phishing / SPAM mails not caught by ProtonMail.

Shame on protonmail for waiting like 8,5 years for beginning on this otherwise mandatory feature. Just found a workaround on google:
Keyboard Shortcuts: ProtonMail offers keyboard shortcuts (e.g., T+Enter for deleting and opening the next email, A+Enter for archiving and opening the next email) that can be used to navigate emails quickly. While not exactly an auto-advance feature, these shortcuts can streamline your email management process.

Better than nothing while waiting for decades. -

@Thomas Smith - there is no such setting. Neither in android app nor web version. I am also a beta tester. Is it me that is blind or? Confused.

I'm happy work has started but confused why you chose iOS. This feature is critical if you are handling a large volume of email and people will usually use web/desktop apps to do that. Prioritising those first would be better I believe.

Hello,
Please also add posibility to navigate from an opened email to previous / next using swipe left/ right in Android and also prioritize Android too...
Thanks a lot

You should be able to go through unread messages without having to go back to the inbox every farking single time, I've never seen an email client this clunky! Whether you just read it, move it, delete it, whatever, just go to the next email!

I wholeheartedly approve this request because **** how much it is tedious when I clean my mailbox to look for where I was in the list every time I delete a mail and it sends me back at the top of the list! 😣
Wait, really Proton? You censor the word "****"? 😲
I had no idea that Proton is a puritan church who forbids impure words, it's not as if I said ACTUALLY dirty words such as "****" nor "****" nor "*****" nor "****" nor "***" nor "****" nor "****", did I? 😏 -

Holy curse, 8 years of waiting for a reply to such a simple feature to implement request and it has only STARTED so who knows how longer it will take to ACTUALLY implement such a simple feature and ONLY for iOS at first, what's wrong with you, Proton Community Team?! 😲

I have the feeling we need to remind them on every feature that a feature is cross-platform, and if we don't explicitly say it they just build iOS only.
Android is the exact place this is needed. The app is a slow mess right now and this would at least make it partially usable.
Feature parity is not as difficult as these guys make it seem.

What about PCs and Androids? Any timeline on when to expect this? I am very surprised, as every other email app has this. Have I made a big mistake moving to Proton? I've noticed that you've completely overlooked some very basic functions, which are fundamental expectations of an email provider. I feel like you are playing some cruel joke by saying that this is going to be on iOS first. Have you conducted a report to ascertain the number of users on each platform and the order of priority? Or did you fail to take that into account too?

Am I dreaming? Proton finally answered after 8 years with total silence and ignorance. Please improve this against your customers in the future. I know that you already have lost a lot of customers and prospects because of this @proton!

Pls make it so that you do this action with the options previous and next mail to open.
Also make it so that you do this action when the messge is removed from the current filter or list. Like to trash, removed label, etc. -

I am trying out proton mail and this will be a huge consideration on if I keep using it. I decided just to sign up for 1 month premium to see if I liked it before going in for a full 24 months. As much as I am getting sick of Googles new rules this is a critical issue for me, without this type of feature I will look for another email provider.

If you're following this thread, I have a solution for you...
Having switched to Proton from Gmail I also found this really irritating - repeatedly clicking into the next email is desperately tedious...so I wrote some code to fix it.
https://github.com/tompos2/proton_mail_auto_select_next_message (full instructions included)Its a userscript that uses Javascript to modify the ProtonMail UI to auto-advance to the next message in your inbox when you press Archive, Delete or Spam in the toolbar.
You don't need any technical knowledge to get it working - just follow the instructions on the Github page. You install the Tampermonkey Browser Extension in Chrome or Firefox, install the script and it will just work.
Currently working with the Archive, Delete and Spam buttons in the main toolbar ONLY.
The invisible buttons that appear on hover in the email list, and the buttons in the email pane itself don't work for now, nor does dragging and dropping emails to folders. But it shouldn't be too much work to add these - if you need this let me know, and I'll see what I can do...
Would love to hear any feedback and if this is useful for you!

It blows me away that this is not already a feature. I have a hard time even calling it a feature; in virtually every other client I've used it's just the way it is or easily turned on. It may sound silly to some, but without this feature it's really hard to keep using the product. The workflow suffers more than I'd like to allow. And it's been here since 2016? Eight years ago? SMH.

I see this is a common request and would like to add my interest. After reading a mail, deleting it, etc., move on to the next email instead of returning to the Inbox.
This feature is available in Outlook, Yahoo, and Gmail. I am migrating from Outlook exclusively to Proton, so I would like it to work as well as possible. Thank you. -

How is this not a feature yet?? 🥲
