To me, the ability to search for and within emails is a must features that PM currently lacks.

Hi. I find that the seach function built into the web access to Proton mail could be enhanced. It does not work very well in practice. Very often it comes up with no results, even if there are mails with the words that have been searched for. This is also an issue using advanced search and ticking "Do not require exact match".
Kind regards, Jens -

+1 for this feature. This is teh only reason I don't switch personally and for my company.

I did not realise Protonmail was not able to search contents. This is a massive problem making it difficult for us to find emails unless we remember who sent them.
Please, is there any plan to remedy this weakness?

Search of encrypted emails is already being done on Tutanota, so it is possible. I dislike Tutanota for other reasons and have decided to use ProtonMail, despite considerable extra expense. The lack of search (except of course via Bridge) is a big minus for ProtonMail.

This is definitely a must do! What about a personal encrypted search index that updates when we connect?

Is this still in progress? It is absolutely essential for full transition and functionality. It is labeled as "planned" on Aug 30, 2015 - is it actually going to happen?

When im in my inbox and want to search for an email, the results are for all folders.
If im searching in my inbox, it would be nice for the search to default inbox only instead of having to select advanced>inbox location.

PLEASE get this going. It's almost a deal-breaker for the whole service.

Please enable this as soon as possible. It's important if you expect people to move from Gmail that you give them the option to find their emails by the content. Same with the content of calendars; please make the calendar searchable too.

Hi How is this coming along protonmail?
Can you please update advanced search so that you can find certain words in emails so that you can find older messages better. An advanced serach which looks through the index of content more thoroughly. I've typed the word 'sound' and only certain emails show up and I know that I have other emails that refer to that word.

Yes - and to be able to search the contents of forwarded messages.

Please, please get this feature working soon! I haven't been able to transition completely because I need full search functionality. Most of my contacts who have joined also need this badly.

I haven't been able to recommend or make a strong case that a couple of social justice organizations I work for switch to protonmail for lack of this feature. It's just crucial to any kind of productive workflow, and is a consistent irritant -- and my only problem -- when it comes to my personal use of protonmail.

I'm a paid user and donater, my company is considering switching everything to PM, but until you allow real search, it isn't viable. And we don't want to use bridge with a third party app. Desktops and smartphones are pretty powerful these days, give us the option to decrypt the message contents and hold it in Memory so you can search PLEASE!

Please please please implement this feature as soon as you possibly can. This is so essential for me and many people I know (it is the main reason that many of my friends will not yet switch to Protonmail). As obvious as it sounds: for many people, finding older emails is a very important activity and one that is nearly impossible without being able to search the text body of emails. At the moment, whenever I have to search for emails, I switch from the browser email application to the a desktop application such as thunderbird (which I don't like using and is otherwise useless to me) via the bridge. I will be so happy when I don't have to use this cumbersome workaround!
