Aliases to separate inboxes / folders
Let's say you use a number of different E-Mails. Some you only use for websites where you expect spam. Some for websites which still send promotions and the like, but which you generally trust. Another alias might be your personal E-Mail address that you hand out to friends.
Fortunately, Protonmail offers the alias functionality, but right now, everything is dumped into the same inbox.
Now, I have seen lots of requests for folders (sorry, but labels are not folders. They do not do the trick). What is missing from all this, I believe, is the ability to create inbox folders for every alias.
As the system is now, every E-Mail you are sent, no matter to what alias / address, gets dumped into the same Inbox. This easily leads to congestion and you need to manually filter through everything.
An ideal system would allow us to have folders with rules (i.e.: "If mail recipient = somealias@protonmail.com, send to folder somefolder")
Assuming this feature is still far in the future, what would be great in the meantime is the ability to have one folder for each alias.

Proton already supports "+alias" addresses, and allows me to filter based on those, which is convenient. However, Fastmail has even better support -- it does a fuzzy match against folders and routes to a folder if there's a match, without having to create an explicit filter.

This is basically just a duplicate of: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-proton-mail/suggestions/42505153-split-address-mode-separate-emails-into-differen
Vote on that one to motivate Proton to implement this feature.

On desktop, via the Proton Mail Bridge, I am able to connect to my various mail aliases as if they were different inboxes entirely - which is a really nice way to manage my email. I have my main email alias, which acts as my main "real" inbox, and then I have my, like, spam and newsletters nonsense alias, which I like to keep around just in case there are some good deals on something I'm in the market for.
Unfortunately, on iOS, my mail is treated as one big inbox by the Proton Mail app, and it'd be nice to be able to split these from WITHIN the Proton Mail app. I understand why you guys aren't implementing the Bridge on mobile - mobile operating systems just don't allow for that kind of cross-app communication and multitasking on mobile OSes just doesn't allow for that the way that it can be done on desktop operating systems.
But it SHOULD be doable within the Proton Mail app ITSELF, and it'd be really nice if I could split out my main inbox from stuff that goes to my newsletters/spam inbox, and bonus points if I could mute notifications from inboxes independently. I don't care about the stuff that goes to my newsletters inbox and that number is going to go up and up and up and up and up, but it'd be nice to shut it up while KEEPING notifications for any emails that hit my main email alias.

Agree with everyone. A hack to create filters is not useful. I want to treat each alias as a separate inbox. This is what I've done in Thunderbird. It's treated as a separate account, where each alias is a different username. It's also what other email providers do, like runbox.

I have different Proton e-mail alias account names (as a paid user) as I want one for my personal correspondents, one for medical correspondents/bills and one for general free and paid subscriptions from different companies.
I also use Outlook and have my company email and personal email accounts which allow me to see only those emails specific to each account and not all together in one in-box folder.
Yes, you can create a script and have Proton in-bound messages funnel into folders but that is not what I am referring to - the ability to have different views of in-boxes so you can view only those emails for that alias, or even different proton account, if you have more than one, or perhaps for a family or small business.
It would be so much cleaner and segregate and separate. different inbound emails by view, something Outlook has had for many years.
This is perhaps the most unsatisfying aspect of using Proton mail having different accounts/aliases.

Absolutely agree. Separate inboxes for aliases are necessary, on desktop and mobile as well.
I only wonder why, after so long period of time, it hasnt been implemented yet? This topic is so old.
Come on proton, we need that support. -

yes, completely agree as I recently dumped my old BT accounts in favour of ProtonMail Plus but still need to have separate inboxes for business and private accounts..........would be a great help for you guys to develop and install this feature.

That's a hack not the correct implementation!

I completely agree with this idea. I have just upgraded to ProtonMail Plus to enable multiple addresses for my business. It would be awesome if we could separate those addresses into folders so that important emails from media outlets don't get mixed in with questions about orders. The only way for someone to do this currently is to set up a whole new protonmail account.
