Add ability to run newly created filters against existing mail
Can you please make it so we can run newly created filters against existing mail? Ideally based off the same criteria we can search on, applied retroactively.
When creating a filter, you have a checkbox "Apply filter to existing emails".

It would be nice if you could apply the filters on a subset of emails for testing. Testing takes a long time otherwise, even with not so many emails (testing on less than a thousand now)

incoming emails are going into the in box and not the folder in the filter. I have applied filters to existing emails many many many many times and it says the emails are being moved, BUT they stay in the in box and do NOT go into the filter folder. Ugh!

It's really strange not to have this feature! Imagine having to filter thousends of email manually :(

I have limited time to filter my email and unfortunately have 200,000+ emails to sort. For security reasons I moved to Proton and this feature would save me 100's of hours as I need to migrate 4 different email accounts.

I would like to be able to apply a rule to past emails to go into a designated folder. Lets say for example I have 100 emails from my bank and instead of going back and manually putting them in that folder I can make a filter and it can automatically put all the past emails in that folder instead of all future ones.

Please yes - I'm particularly having difficulty with surrogates and it's hard to tell if it's me or the implementation.
BTW, does anybody know which Sieve implementation ProtonMail uses? I've been poking around GitHub for awhile and have yet to find it.

Please add this, it's hard to recommend the platform without this feature

This truly may be my biggest regret to switching to protonmail. It basically makes using protonmail impossible if you want to port in your emails from gmail. There are certain fundamental features that are really badly overlooked, and this may be the most fundamental. If you're going to let us import our email from gmail with a snazzy easyImport tool, the least you could do is have a checkbox there that says, "archive all imported emails"

And they claim this was completed last year!

Is this maybe a limitation caused by server-side encryption? i.e. no server-side script can inspect the email once it has been stored?
This would be very helpful for us users who migrated from Gmail and have TONS of unread garbage what Gmail has "helpfully" hidden from us over the years. After import, my inbox has more unread messages than the unread badge can even count. Going through them one page at a time is going to be brutal.

I bought into the 2 year plan, and I'm SHOCKED that a feature that Outlook has had for a while doesn't exist in Proton. I have 4k emails I have to sort and categorize 50 emails at a time through search. It's not a deal breaker... but come on.

I've been trying to organise my inbox and this would definitely save me so much time!

Creating a filter and then having to apply it to the stuff you missed is really annoying. It would be better if you could run your entire inbox through the filter you created.

Please add this. I just migrated to ProtonMail and I'm already missing the feature.
