Send As (from external address - Add support for EXTERNAL SMTP servers in apps)
It would be nice to be able to send an email as a different address.
Google has a feature like this. So I can send from my schools .edu account from inside my personal gmail.

Yes, exactly what I need. No encryption at all for this feature, just be able to send mail from PM with another smtp.

I have to rely on Gmail to be able to send as my educational mail. I'm considering switching to another mail service that includes this feature.

This is a great idea and does NOT need to be encrypted. I just need external apps to be able to use my email to send mails. When I receive replies they will be stored encrypted and I can then respond via the protonmail web application.

i'm pretty sure this would be impossible, since how would your emails be encrypted in your pm mailbox? which public key is pm supposed to use to encrypt the stored copy? the address doesn't actually exist if you use an external smtp to send from it, so protonmail can't store keys for it.
this one seems like a non-starter

Yes, please. This is the last feature I need to move to payed version. I need to use at least one external smtps !

Yes, I also have a school .edu email alias that I'm actively using. This is the only lack of feature preventing me from switching to protonmail as my main email service provider. Please support it.

This is not possible at all, I want your mail for my CS-CART, I bought the full version of your application today, I started looking for SMTP, but I could not find it, I wasted my time and money. How can I use your service in my CS-cart as smtp?
I support the idea, because there is no SMTP, then I return to Google (GMAIL

It would be awesome to be able to send PGP encrypted email from my Gmail account without
any hassle. -

Gave up waiting, dropping to another service simply because of the lack of this feature.

It would be great to be able to reply directly to an email forwarded to my protonmail inbox using the email address that it was sent to.
In particular, I'd like to use this feature with my school email address because it still uses an atrocious java web applet by default.

Absolute must have feature - has been available from other ISPs/ mail hosts long before the existence of Gmail.
I wonder if ProtonMail hasn't implemented this feature because it would undermine their business model - i.e. allow people to send from 'their domain' without having their domain e-mail hosted at ProtonMail and thus not requiring a paid for account? Come on ProtonMail, this is basic stuff

I have a custom email domain forwarded to Proton mail. I also would like a :send as feature for continuity in email replys.
Thank you.

I also find this extremely desirable. I'd prefer to encrypt my inbox through ProtonMail but my university tends to flag any address not through their domain as spam. So, I end up having to compose emails through gmail even though the address redirects to my protonmail inbox.

This is the main thing keeping me using Gmail alongside Protonmail.
