Hello there
I love your work, congratulations!!!
Are you planning to create a Desktop Based App for MAC OS or LINUX?I know desktop apps are becoming obsolete but I love the iOS application, probably the best on the market and I would love a MAC OS Desktop app or an integration for Apple Mail.... is there something you have in your pipeline?
Best Regards,

A desktop app for protonmail alone.

Just use the webmail...? It is a big additional project to roll out desktop programs for every major operating system.

i find it very annoying that you can't use proton with a 3th party inbox.
so it would be very helpful if you were able to make a desktop app -

While making a secure desktop client for ProtonMail alone shouldn't be difficult, this idea focuses on how to use ProtonMail Servers to add a layer of security to 3rd Party email providers.
If the ProtonMail server is used as an email client to receive 3rd Party email through POP3/IMAP4, those emails could be encrypted and stored on a ProtonMail server. But they would be encrypted by using the User's Public Key. Thus once received an encrypted, they cannot be opened by anyone else but the User himself.
Then the email could either be fetched by or pushed to the desktop client/Mobile app, which would decrypt the mail using the user's Private Key.
Advantages:
- If ProtonMail has it's own desktop client it could completely replace 3rd Party software. e.g. Outlook, Thunderbird.- Desktop Client/Mobile App only needs to connect and authenticate to a single server. While receiving mail from multiple providers.
- Mail from otherwise insecure providers will now be encrypted before reaching the client's internet provider, thus protecting from client side surveillance. (Could be called a form of secure email tunnelling. Like VPN, but only for email.)
Disadvantages
- None to the client.- Developers will need to implement further code to sort through multiple providers. I may be wrong, but this could be done by the desktop client after data has been decrypted.

Make an app that is compatible with the OS's above and that can support multiple Proton accounts. For example:
In a family of 2 or 3 or whatever.. A common computer could be used for emails, a Proton app would be installed in that computer running any OS and inside that app you could see the accounts linked to it. Like this: "Username" - "proton mail" -> Dad: awsomedad@protonmail.com then another account right below this one: Mum: awsomemum@... and another and another with a base limit of 3 accounts, the next accounts should be a buying option. Something like this.Ofc every user should enter their password EVERYTIME (optional) they want to acess their account in that app. It would be cool and it would attrack even more people. And more people more chance for donations to happen.
*BTW the internet app would continue to exist.

would be great with a notifier on the desktop so you dont have to check in all the time for new emails.
